the tamashii webshop exclusives are only Japan exclusives, meaning if you live in Japan the only way to get them is through the Tamashii site.

HOWEVER: Bandai product in the US is distributed by Bluefin and not Tamashii Nations, which brings everything to the American market regardless of its exclusive status in Japan.

This means that what is a Tamashii Webshop Exclusive is Japan is not exclusive in North America and thus is more easily obtained living in the US.

BBTS, Dorkside, and many other US-based collector sites have had the Sandtrooper and Royal Guard up for sale on their site.

Do don't worry about it being a "Tamashii webshop exclusive", they'll make their way to American e-tailers everywhere.

The problem with the exclusives isn't in getting them, it's in getting a good price for them. A normal Japanese release Stormtrooper is currently 7020jpy on HLJ.com with 980jpy SAL shipping with is appx $65-$70 total shipped to the US. Generally on BBTS amazon B&N etc...you have to pay $80-$90 + shipping (unless you have a coupon or something). That price difference stinks. For instance: I'm getting 3 of the Royal Guard Exclusives from BBTS $269.97 + shipping. If they were normal releases I could get them from hlj/ami/AE etc for about $200-$210 shipped. For someone that is all in on this line the $20-$30 each savings is going to add up real quick even if you don't buy multiples. The line is new, but has had a lot of exclusives so far a bit over 40% of them:

Exclusives
Sandtrooper
Royal Guard
Drummer

Non Exclusives
Vader V1
Vader V2
Stormtrooper
Boba Fett

Already at this point, for what I'm buying I would have saved at least $100 if none of them had been exclusives. To me, the only one that should have been exclusive is the Drummer variant. Sandtroopers and Royal Guards not only sell well, they are 'core' troop builders. I mean, who buys just one Royal Guard?

haha. I only got one. It's all I could afford with all the other lines I collect. I get the sentiment though as I'd love to get 2.

Ha! I'm sure many are just getting one (or none), but if you could order it at the discounted Japanese etailer price would you be tempted to get two? I see you are from Canada so you are probably paying more that $100USD per figure for the exclusives, right? My guess is that you would be able to buy 2 shipped from Japan for the price of the one you are getting in Canada (talking about the exclusives).

I'm just griping because I like this line and collect other things too and I'm also a cheapskate so I want deals deals deals!:rotfl

Oh absolutely. If the price was a bit lower I would be way more inclined to get 2. Our Canadian dollar isn't so great either which makes it even worse.

With the line seemingly going down the exclusive route, that makes the figures $150+AUD vs the $70-80 I paid for the original Vader and first release Stormtroopers. Boba was higher at $105 delivered. But these exclusives effectively hike the price another 50% on top of that and double if from where I signed on. I'm going to have to rethink this line.

Is there anywhere that still has the Stormtrooper reissue available? I want s couple and can't find them for non-crazy prices now.

Royal guards are so much more, but that's all I wanted. No one is keen to make any royal guards at all, except Lego and ArtFX.
Guaranteed to sell two at a time... come on Figuarts!

Welcome to the tamashii party...
I've been hating on them for years because of this ...I've been buying gundams and anime characters for years and my single biggest problem has always been they decided to make the STANDARD CORE CHARACTERS exclusives.
Nope...not some rare off beat minor character...but the MAIN characters In a series.
So if you want to collect, say..gundam wing, well then to complete the set you need to pay $120 or MORE each on a gundam that usually sells for $40 !!
That SUCKS...
They routinely take core figures and make them impossible to get and cost Double....lame

They would in a heartbeat, make a c3po for $45 but make r2d2 an exclusive that you have to jump through hoops to get and pay double at least.
That's just BS
I can see maybe a r5d4 as an exclusive...but come on not R2.
But that's just what they do.

Got Death Star Vader today. A MUCH better figure than the previously released Vader. Comes with more accessories including a robotic right hand which was a nice touch. Very pleased. DSC04705.jpg

As I said, more accessories this time around. Essentially more bang for the buck. The first Vader stands better as it seems to have a better balance. I prefer the mask on the Death Star as well as the overall style and color to the costume. DSC04707.jpgDSC04708.jpg

The head does look better on the new death star version. The eyes and mouth are nicer and the robotic hand looks cool, but that big death star on the head is kinda ridiculous. :lol It's a wee bit too big. The empire symbol and abdomen chest section is nicer on the 1st release..... Glad I'll have both. :yess: Although my Bobba from amiami has been sitting in Japan since Dec 5th and still hasn't updated/departed!! Been stuck wih "Dispatch from outward office of exchange". Same thing happened with My sh figuarts Maul, sat there for nearly 3 weeks. Just paid for Vader and sh figuarts Kylo Ren so lets how long they're stuck in Japan too.. :(

The Death Star on the head is removable. It slides into a small, unoticable piece on his head. If you don't want to include it, it doesn't make the figure look odd.

Oh ok, so it's mainly cos of different accessories. I thought you meant just the figure itself. Should get mine before Xmas so hope to do the comparison soon.

Just noticed the cloak from the royal guards is removable.
Guess Ill order another one then :)

Does anyone know have an idea how many figures this line eventually will include?
Has anything been said about that?

No mention of how many will be in the line, they'll probably just keep making them so long as the sales are there. I'll be doing to best to help them out lol. Looking forward to seeing some of the good guys added to this line.

You should get two, one with the robe and one without. A pair of them is perfect beside Vader.:D
