I don't think it was the Medi. It was definitely larger than that. And why would the dome be shiny if it was the Medi? I thought it was a one-off prototype. If it was, there's still a chance they re-evaluated the overall size before they committed to molds. I just hope they did realize it was too small.

They went through such pains to make sure 3PO was scaled properly. I can't imagine that they would just throw R2 out to production without serious research.

I feel fairly confident that they hadn't yet committed to a mold for R2 because they commented to someone at the time that R2 would only be made if 3PO met sales expectations. Doesn't make sense that they'd invest in the mold if they thought there was a chance it wouldn't get produced. Hope my speculation is correct.

Could be, but why bother making a one-off and getting the size completely wrong? It would have been easier just to grab an off-the-shelf version from someone else and maybe do a repaint. Whatever the case...

Hopefully this is true and from whatever dark recess they pulled that sample R2, it never again sees the light of day.

R2 is HUGE, and it's about time someone made a version even remotely close to 1/6 scale.

Ugh. Yeah, not digging that at all. The scale is bad, he's got that crappy "mirror " type finish that some the little Hasbro figures have and his "eye" is flat.

Threepio looks different too. He has a matte finish it appears.

But did they? I've had it on order at a local etailer who's had my deposit for 4 years I reckon. I heard GG changed the date to sometime this year? Local etailer won't refund me as they've placed orders through GG.

Either way it's meant to go with the GG Threepio Statue and that's smaller than this Threepio.

The finish on the dome is also an issue but is an easier fix, but yeah, I hope they increased his size.

BBTS cancelled my PO a few months back, saying they weren't being released. Interesting about the scale, I thought it was going to be a good match with the Tamashii.

Someone posted pics a while back in here of the Tamashii next to the GG Statue. I own them both but haven't put them side by side. Pretty sure they're different.

Looks like I should send an email and get my deposit back.
