Nah, there is no point in getting that crazy in October :wink1:

The Canuckleheads are just mad because our Country can beat up their country.:)

this is funny because while american companies buy all the retail chains, Canadian banks are buy up American banks.

Or you could look at it like most humans:

Target...Walmart without trash.

This is such a weird fact for me. Walmarts are usually pretty nice around here. I mean there are the bad ones but most of the time Wal-marts are nicer in my area then Zellers. I avoid the Zellers by my place like a plague. I bet that is one thats not getting turned into a target.

I will be cool to see Zellers out of the picture. I never really liked it overly. Do targets have restaurants in them? If not my mom is gonna be sad.

Never heard of Zellers.

Hell, most of the US land is owned by foreigners now. And for some reason, they can buy it for real cheap. :dunno

Do they have Zellers in the US? I've never seen one. If everyone hates Walmart and Target, where are you shopping? Meijers isn't too different than Target and Kmart to me is the worst of them all!

U.S. retailer Target said Thursday it is buying the store leases of Canadian discount retail chain Zellers from the U.S. investor who owns the Hudson's Bay Co. assets for $1.8 billion.

Unless I misread the article...an American Company already owns it.

Star Puffs, I think you might want to actually look into the owners of Canadian retailers before offering that opinion.

:yess:

I heard somewhere that the top five Canadian started chains (ie. Hudsons bay, Tim Hortons etc.) are owned by Americans. I was only a few years ago that Timmys got bought up and people were really pissed off, didn't stop them from going but they weren't happy.

I don't think US owners of Canadian chains are trying to Americanize things. If the status quo makes them money, why futz, right? The same goes the other way around too. It's a mutually beneficial relationship which works well. I think the idea that Canadians in general have zero interest in living in the States (and the visa versa is true too) helps as well. It keeps the politics to a bare minimum. Save from some occasional silly sibling type banter between Canada and the US, the truth is, they need each other. The relationship between the two countries serves as a remarkable example to the rest of the world.

very little in terms of retail is actually Canadian owned anymore. this is great news, stereotypes aside.

You guys can't beat us, we have lots of Afganies here and Iraqi's..yup, make that a third lost war. :D

Oh, hell...didn't count on that secret weapon. Edit - But to be fair...we are only having problems because we are trying to hard to fight wars and keep whiny countries happy at the same time (not necessarily Canada).

I know I don't care about Americans buying stuff up. most, if not all of the time they just buy the company and one or two things change. It's really not a big deal. But, some people are very nationalist.
