Omg. This was somthing I was expecting.

People keep using the term "true to the source material" and I have to wonder what source material are people referring to. Looking at this trailer it looks like they are basing this more on the 1987 series and the Nick show and in both cases they are about as true to the source material as Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends was to the Spider-Man source material. Going strictly on the quality of the CG it looks like they might not have had the same budget because it looked pretty poor. Or maybe the character designs just aren't that good.

Maybe the film isn't ready? It doesn't come out for another 6 months. As far as the source material, I don't think will ever see a movie similar to the original comics, and to be honest, it kind of makes sense from a business point of view. Most people are only familiar with the animated series, films, and toys to the point that it completely overshadows the comics. I'm not familiar with the current comics, so I don't know if they're similar to the old ones or more like the cartoons, still, the animated series made TMNT what it is today and it redefined the brand and made mainstream, so like Batman and Superman, there are certain elements that will never change because they are associated with the characters. Even if they do make a film that's "true" to the source material, the cartoon influence will still be a part of it, and that's not necessarily a bad thing at all. New films and cartoons will continue to add new elements to the brand.

I think for a vast majority of people, the cartoon is the primary source of TMNT. The comic is far, far lesser known than the cartoon. It had such a lasting impact on the TMNT in popular culture. I mean, the red, blue, purple, and orange masks originate from it and most people never think of them all having just red masks. I don't think you'll ever see a true to the original comic TMNT done in any format at this point. Its much too dark compared to where the turtles evolved from with the cartoon. Sure, they'll still pull things here and there from the comic, but people have wanted to see Bebop and Rocksteady in a movie TMNT for decades. I was so disappointed as a kid they weren't in secret of the ooze. We got Toka and Razor instead and they weren't Shredder's mutant sidekicks to me.

The one thing they need to define and establish is Splinter's origin because he has a different origin in the comics, cartoons, and both movies series and that's unacceptable. Just like Batman and Superman have a specific origin that doesn't really change, they need to pick one and stick with it, but it's important that Splinter and Shredder have a history, which is one thing I hate about the new film...they have no history, so when they fought each other, it was meaningless.

Funny how they are pandering to the fans by giving them Bebop and Rocksteady yet they completely ruined Shredder in the first movie. Is it the same people working on this movie as the first or have they all been replaced for how much they messed up the first time?

New director and some new actors playing Shredder and Leo.

Bebop and rocksteady were going to be in the first one, that was always the plan. But they pushed them to the sequel

I really hope Knoxville isn't coming back as Leonardo. Terrible casting.

I didn't even notice. It's just a voice. I have no idea why Hollywood insists on casting anyone who's "known" at all in these voice roles. I'd cast unknowns for dirt cheap prices and use budget where it matters. There are tons of great voice talents out there that no one has heard of. Sure, we know Tom Hanks as Woody now and couldn't imagine it any different today, but had they originally casted an unknown voice would it have really mattered? No.

I'll be seeing this in theaters....I'll admit it! :lol

I liked the first one. (Bought it dirt cheap.)

RS and Bebop will be worth it.
