Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

I know it isn't 1/6th or even a figure, but I thought this might be the best place to show you guy's this instead of starting a new thread to create more clutter.

picture.php

I made this some time in the early to mid 90's I think. I bought the Argonauts Arnie T800 and their Endoskeleton T800. Then I used the two heads to make a copy and combine to make what you can see above. My painting wasn't as good back then, but i'm still a little proud of it. That is why I still have it instead of disposing of it. Although it goes away in a cupboard instead of sitting on a shelf nowadays.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

I knew this site would be my downfall. It started with just changing the body, then I reworked the jacket; changed those rivets and will chrome the zipper. Changed the hands with a MS Blade. I'm waiting on a new shirt; one black and one white (will dye it). Will mostlikely look for that grenade launcher and perhaps a mini-gun. I'm also now thinking of stripping the paint; something always bothered me about the head and it turns out he has a lazy left eye. I'm sure it won't end there. Don't get me wrong I've dabbled, and I use that term loosely, in customizing but you guys have just made more work for me.:sick

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

Well, I've got an "in-progress" "Tech Noir" Terminator1 Terminator that I'm working on. Amongst other things, the head still needs painting, and jacket needs to be dyed gray of course, but I wanted to show off the cool jacket I found on EBay.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

Looking good. Thats a nice T1 headsculpt. I really wish someone would make a line of T1 figures. Any scale - just someone do it for gods sake. Get whatever permissions are needed and do it.

Edit- by 'someone' I mean NECA (7'') and Hot Toys (12'')

That looks really good so far man!

Yeah it just sucks that when Hot Toys had the license they were alot more small then making licensed figures sans likeness rights. Kind of a waste if you ask me.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

it's fun isn't it :D

No, I should be relaxing and ooing and awing at other's hard work:D

Not the best pic, but here he is so far. He's got the shades 'cause his wonky eye just bugs the hell out of me. I will either repaint him or get another head.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

Any tips on how to go about painting the zippers silver?

Lightly stroke the brush over the zipper teeth with metallic silver. You might want to seal it 'cause it does come off with excessive handling.

I just did it to see what it would looked like and what techique to use. I'm going to take most of the silver off and repaint it once I get the figure where I'm pleased with it.

Did you tape down the border parts to avoid painting the leather?

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

naw, sometimes when I over think things I mess up. I used a 3 round brush. It's small enough to be able to fit between the pleather. You could use a 0, 00, or 000, but that would be more brush strokes increasing the likelyhood of painting the pleather.

O.k. cool and thanks for the tips, i've yet to paint my custom jackets.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

One day I'll have my figure completed :monkey2

Although I think now that TT are plentiful again I'll swap my figure out to one of those. The Ace body just seems a bit too bulky.

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

"thats a good damn mini-gun" :lol

looking good moon cat :rock:rock

Re: Building the ultimate Terminator T-800 figure.

O.k. I just finished weathering one of my jackets and painting the zipper silver. Thanks to all for the tips and pics, much appreciated. I have a lousy camera so I hope you can see the awesome detail, it turned out great!
