Just picked up a carabiner and made some tassles so I should have the shoulder/epaulet details done soon on my Tech Noir.

Just waiting on a ref image before I do it.

T1 Technoir Upgrade Complete.

Thanks to Dekdave for providing Screen Grabs. I must first say the stuff on the shoulder holding the chain is not what I thought. It is actually an industrial equipment chain hook or something. And there really isn't a carabiner, just a looped end to it. After examining the ref pics it also seems like this was changed slightly in look from time to time. I'm sure it had to be tweaked a bunch during filming as it took some pretty rough treatment.

Also, in some scenes it looked as if there were tassle/s attached. I'm guessing it was wrapped with a leather weave sheath and had ties hanging from it. Anyway what I did was hang the chain from a clasp hook, attach that to a carabiner, then wrap it. And I added tassles as I liked the look of that. You can see them in this screen grab.

Oops, need to add another tassle.

I nabbed this off the bay to see if I can bleach/dye it for Technoir jacket.

Looks good EF. I would use the HT M65 Rambo OR a GI Joe Combat Jacket (older style w/ zipper and drawstring). But yes, you would need to bleach it then dye it grey.

Added another tassle. Now he as 2. Done. Someday I will send this to someone to stud it out then It will be done done.

On that screen grab, is the chain link held in place by being wrapped in the rope, and the tassels are are just the end of it?

I'd advise against using bleach on this one. I bought one exactly the same and it turned orange ! I'm not sure what colour the fabric was before it was dyed but I certainly didn't use a lot of bleach. The jacket is also a lot darker than in the pictures too.

Yo, EF. I think there were 2 D hooks wrapped with a braided leather sheath or something. And the look of it changed as battles ensued. I think the Technoir bouncer ripped some of it off...

Here's what Dekdave said:

"Yeah looks like the clasp has 2 D rings on each end. That's probably why they taped it around the epaulet. The tape gets torn off by the bouncer at Tech Noir and it hangs from the chain thereafter. If only they had a carabiner but I guess it wasn't in the budget. "

No problem. I don't believe Darklord Dave will be sending Dek from the past to a future appearance here anytime soon. But I really wish he would.

Here's a couple more grabs Dave made... you can see the d hooks clearly in the 2nd shot.

More grabs. The look of it changed quite a bit... I'm very happy with what I did. In sixth scale it looks pretty cool.

My mod looks pretty close to this so I'm happy.

no doubt!! I'm having one customized myself. Will be sure to post pics when it's done. I'm getting both a Tech Noir and a Police Station Terminator. Already have the badass decals from Evilface.

Yep, a silver HT Carabiner which opens. Got it from Toy Anxiety for .99. The metal hook clasp I used was from cheap costume jewelry I found at the .99 Store.
