Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I want to punch that hyperactive dude in that video.

:lol I've found that I tend to share the same feelings about most movies as he does. I usually watch his reviews after screening and it's like he took my praises and criticisms right out of my mouth.

I was totally one of those people expecting him to rip on the trailer, but then again I hadn't thought about how T1 and T2 could still be possible even with this existing. I'll give the film the benefit of the doubt rather than flat-out boycotting it, but even then it'll likely still suck. Hope Matt Smith plays a minimal role. I don't even think I saw him in the trailer.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

If they hadn't insisted on trying to draw it all out into a trilogy maybe they could have shown the stuff we all wanted to see in the first place instead of saving it for a final film that they were never guaranteed to be able to make.

Absolutely agree. The plot of the planned trilogy would've been stretched thin over 3 films, like the Star Wars prequels. You can't just have one great blockbuster film now in Hollywood, it's got to be a series.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I am satisfied with the trailer. Going to watch the flick. Hope it does well enough for part 2 & 3. Hope they've got the story worked out for the 2 next flicks.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I don't see why this movie would need 2 more sequels. Pops fights the T-1000 in 1984, defeats him, and then Judgment Day is averted for like the 9th time. The end.

Nah. Terminator Gynises 2 will have nu Reese and Sarah taking on an army of T-1000s. Then, part 3 has them fighting Predators.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Maybe Genisys Part 2 can take place in 1991. As Arnold enters the Galleria a nu John drives a van through the arcade and takes out the T-1000.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Ill take Salvation over T3. T3 was horrid but it did have some cool stunts/effects like the crane scene smashing through the city buildings. At least I remember looking cool, I haven't seen it in years. I liked the T-600's is Salvation. They we're big, clunky and scary. Cool HT figures too.

So what is this idiotic **** supposed to be? A prequel, a reboot, a Lucas-esque '**** everything retcon prequel/sequel.'

They even cast an asian dude that sorta reminds you of Robert Patrick. :lol WTF.

Not sure how Arnie being in this would make it more "legit" either. If anything it makes it more ****ing idiotic.

They should have just made this a spoof and got the whole gang back. Patrick Roberts, Edward Furlongs, Linda Hamilton etc. Terminator: The Geriatric Age. It would've been great. Have the T-1000 overweight and winded every time he attempts to run. His blade arms go limp and aren't even pointed anyway. The T-800 has been around humans too long and just sits around complaining about arthritis and Obamacare.

I would have seen that the first day.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

While I think the alternate epilogue ending for T2 is a little cheesy (John Connor is a senator?), I do wonder, had it existed in the theatrical release, would it have prevented Rise, Salvation and now, Genisys' existence?

There's only one story I want to see and that's the future war. A story that revolves around Connor, his rag tag team of soldiers and Skynet. The bridge that gives us our 1984/1995 "present" stories. The original prologue from James Cameron that featured more insight on the war (that was described as icy cold and frost bitten guerrilla fighters, not unlike Washington at Delaware in T2's screenplay), Skynet's defeat, it's facilities, the cold room storage and time displacement equipment is what I want to see, none of this parody, present day ****.

They planned a trilogy.

Yep. Thats the only story left to tell. Just need a good team behind it and make it into what Salvation was not. They can just act like TS never happened.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Man, the terminator time line is more **** up than X Men :lol It never made any sense to begin with, imo. How is it that John Connor's father was younger than him in the future? And in that future before Connor sends Kyle Reese to 1984, who was his father then...because Reese is too young to be his father? :gah:

I would also watch this!!!

2nd installment with Aliens, 3rd installment Predators arrive to see WTF is going on.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Christ. This would have looked ridiculous with a young Arnold T-800. It looks beyond absurd now.

It's why I haven't enjoyed a Die Hard movie since 1995, a Terminator movie since 1991 or any of the Expendables movies. The constant escalation of stunts and action despite the actors and characters being decades older. Old men doing superhuman things that even their younger selves wouldn't have done in the movies of the 80s. There's no restraint whatsoever, just a bunch of Rick McCallums saying 'Yes' to everything no matter how ****ing inane the idea.

And as Difabio said, the T-800 is going to survive this skydive into a helicopter. He'll lose some flesh and he'll have a limp. This same stunt would have demolished the T1 and T2 T-800s. The non-Cameron films have amped up the T-800's invulnerability to ridiculous levels. Sorta like John McClane in Die Hard. Seems the older he gets the more he can take....doesn't it go the opposite way in real life?

''Our storyboard and CG artists have done things that nobody's ever done before''

Yeah but guys, your storyboarders and CG artists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could they didn't stop to think if they should.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

If The Terminator were made today, the T-800 wouldn't have gotten knocked down by Kyle Reese's shotgun blasts. When the Terminator is hit by the tanker truck, the front end would look like the tractor trailer in Man of Steel that Hopeman obliterates.

If Judgment Day were made today, the T-1000 wouldn't have been stunned by the pistol shots or knocked on his ass by shotgun blasts. He'd just keep coming like this new Asian one. When the Terminator rolls off the nitrogen truck, he wouldn't have had a limp from a damaged leg, he would have been completely unscathed and have a cute line like "I'm back".

This **** would have destroyed a T-800 or T-1000 big time,

But in the new movies, they're nigh invincible. In fact, the only thing that kills them ends up being the script.

Or indeed ''You're not sending me to da coolah''

Well putting crappy CG into a Terminator movie has never been done before I guess. Don't know why they'd want to brag about that. The green screen of the city behind Arnold and Sarah when they're in the helicopter is like something out of a 1970's Roger Moore movie.

They're just so behind the times. Nobody cares about buses and trucks flipping into the air anymore if there's no story to back it up. Last summer we saw movies raining helicarriers and baseball stadiums. We're supposed to crap ourselves about a school bus going off the Golden Gate bridge? The same bridge that God-freaking-zilla just walked through?

I *used* to think Falcon jumping into the helicopter was silly. Thanks TG for now making me realize how badass it was.

That wasn't an actual quote from them I should add. But I can imagine it's something they'd say.
