Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

The only consistency Cameron's shown in the last several years is the unyielding praising of his own Avatar films. At best, the sequels will, as he said, make you "s___ yourself with your mouth wide open." At worst, if they tank, he'll probably say they were still relevant milestones in motion capture, animation, and 3D technology.

Genisys won't have the luxury of being his brainchild. As others have said, he's sure to change his opinion once the public voices theirs.

"Deep shock" - brain trauma that manifests in delusional thought or actions as a result of brain compression, most commonly associated with long-term deep-sea diving.

Is Avatar the most overrated movie ever made? I think it has a shout for the title...

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Overrated by who, critics or audiences. I can't remember what critics said about it. Obviously, audiences loved it.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

It hit with an amazing gimmick. It hit when theatrical was going global. It was Cameron's comeback.

But why it was the monster hit of all time, that I just don't understand. Perhaps the thing that kills it over time -- its simplicity -- is exactly what worked on a global scale. Every culture could "get it".

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I'll admit to contributing to the success by seeing it 5 x just for the 3D gimmick. :(

But I stopped there, I didn't dress like a blue Tonto or walk around saying "I see you". :lol

I am a tech junkie yet I don't own it.

I got a free copy the year it was released for "Panasonic" owners only and quickly sold it on Ebay for $100.00.

I am a tech junkie yet I don't own it.

I saw it three times at the theater (once in 3D, once in 2D, then again in 3D when the "extended" edition was released the following year) and I bought the 2D blu-ray when it first came out. But yeah, since I got my 3D TV and player last August I just haven't felt the inclination to plunk down the cash for the 3D blu-ray. Maybe that version would bring back the wow factor but I just never feel the need to revisit it anymore.
