Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I wonder if the old T-800 will tell the young T-800 that he must learn to "hope" again....

As we the audience hope that the young T-800 will tell the old T-800 that he must learn to ''kill'' again :lol

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

If they do time travel to T1 and T2, this could possibly be a decent "homage" to the Cameron films and put them in an even more positive light to audiences that might not be in the know. Could be cool on a Back To The Future "remember the classic adventure" sort of deal like someone said.

Seems doubtful that there'd be any payoff though.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

Well I can't blame him. Much safer just to make figures from the time-tested first two movies. Also we haven't seen anything particularly toyetic so far - just Sarah and Reese in blue pyjamas and old-man T-800 in an outfit that isn't the signature Terminator costume (which we all seem to be happy to see but, toy-wise, stands to be a bit boring)

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

Maybe, but that sounds like you're advocating a full remake. I wouldn't have thought you'd be interested in such a thing...
Yeah.. hmm. Not a remake really, but I think although like most here that have expressed enthusiasm for this new one despite it quite possibly being crap potentially, we can all see how convoluted things are getting just to shoe horn Arnold in as a T-800 again. Sure - I'll be cheering him on, but it's now more like seeing your fave old TV show getting slotted for reruns again.. you know? :lol

You could quite conceivably get a future war film that measures up - if they cared about the saga more. Using Roland would allow for a solid basis for more films that don't in the end, rely on the legacy of an old man to bring in interest - his legendary status aside.

Anyway - I don't know.. just thinking out loud I guess.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I'd 'love' a scene where the old terminator tells the young one to, 'talk to da hand' then have the younger terminator rip the old one's head off!

But lets pretend they did go that route:

Roland Kickinger - T-800
Timothy Olyphant - Kyle Reese
? - Sarah Connor

I don't know if the ages match up correctly now but I'm just putting that out there. Olyphant I always thought looks a bit like Michael Biehn....sort of.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I would advise people to watch this movie alone or with another person(s) that know the Terminator timeline or are at least familiar with the movies. Watching it with a novice or an average joe and I can imagine all sorts of questions after questions during the movie.

Yes that's my concern too, something like that could ruin the experience for me.

Yeah Sarah, that's a tough one.

Meditate on this.. I will.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

Looking forward to Emilia Clarke's take on Sarah. Admittedly a lot of that is driven by certain male imperatives regarding Emilia's physical appearance but.......

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I don't know anything about this new cast - apart from Arnold obviously, but I'm looking forward to it all.

Like you say though a-dev, a future war film would be the first thing to get to next, but they keep brushing it aside frustratingly. That's at least one of the redeeming factors about T3 - it had a really good mini sequence of that.
