Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Whoever's playing Kyle Reese has a very punchable face. I don't know why. Probably a mean thing to say, but seriously, don't you just want to punch his face and watch it ripple?

I'm obviously not enthused. :lol Keep forgetting this movie's even being made.

Jai Courtney becomes more annoying with every movie. He's the Amanda Peet of actors.

Maybe it's his name, maybe it's his starring in inferior sequels to movies we grew up loving.

I still can't believe monkey boulder head is supposed to Kyle ****ing Reese. This can't be real life. Outside of Arnold, the casting sucks.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I think the Arnold casting sucks too. He's too old.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

But Terminators can get old now, because James Cameron said recently that he also came up with that idea a long time ago, because he always envisioned them getting older :lol

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I don't know why it was ever in doubt. The cyborgs use real living tissue, stands to reason it will deteriorate. The films simply were never required to show it or address it till now. I always thought they should have addressed it in T3 but they decided merely to pretend he wasn't any older looking.

So yeah if Cameron said he always had that in mind I believe him. I too had it in mind.

Seems like you guys are really looking forward to this.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I'm interested in it for any T1/T2 referencing (or screwing around with) it may do. I think it'll be fun to watch. However I doubt I'll end up counting it as part of my personal Terminator canon.

If I did accept it as a real Terminator film it would have to do/not do the following:

-it would need to 'feel' like the same world as in the first 2 movies (everything from the way it's shot to the dialogue)
-nothing massively OTT in the action
-minimal CGI (only where absolutely necessary and if CGI IS necessary well the scene better be necessary and not OTT)
-few to zero one liners (and absolutely no ****ing breaking the fourth wall as the T-850 did in T3 - Elton John sunglasses scene/''she'll be back'' scene)
-Don't make the T-800 the inadvertent source of humour
-Don't make the T-800 over-powered like in T3 and T4, it's not ****ing Superman
-Don't make the T-800 into C-3P0, able to just plop his head back onto his body like nothing happened ala T3
-Don't make the T-800 into DATA from Star Trek with ****ing psychology subroutines and all that crap
-Go back to Brad Fiedel-type scoring
-if you're gonna **** with T1/T2 events, think it through properly, keep some level of plausibility

I'm sure there must be other things I'm forgetting. Anyone else got some dos and donts for the film?

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

No standing on one leg bull****.

No kids with speaking parts.

No referencing pop culture ad campaigns like the "I need a vacation" slogan of the late 80's.

No preaching.

How come you weren't hired as a technical consultant? :lol

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I know it's going to fail in pretty much every one of my little categories there - especially the portrayal of the T-800. Heck this is probably gonna be the jokiest and most human T-800 out of all of them.
