Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I wonder how Arnold will hold up in terms of flesh if they end up doing the planned trilogy, considering he's missing everything from his right arm already in this film. Unless he gets re-fleshed in the next film. I guess there will be a lot of timeline jumping, so it may not even matter.

I've looked fwd to this since announced. The teaser looks ok to me. I really hope it's good.

As dumb as ROTS was in parts they pretty much nailed Anakin's golden cyber-arm. It will be silly if they can't match that 10 years later.

Dunno lads, I know its only a teaser for a trailer but from what we saw....the feeling I'm getting.....very today sci-fi. Not much that I would connect with the first two films visually. I guess this is the problem with looking for a good sequel to the first two films when any new film feels it has to top the OTT nonsense of the previous two crappy sequels rather than taking any kind of restraint which would be necessary to make it look and feel T1 and/or T2.

I actually think (and mentioned some time ago) that the best way to restore "respectability" to this franchise would be to kind of pull a Rocky/Rambo and go back to the film's roots. Do a low budget Snowpiercer-ish movie with a scary Terminator stalking the heroes. But they just can't get away from the OTT nature of T2 and are constantly trying to replicate that.

I'd love for them to just release a small, scary, artsy movie in October or something and let us all "discover" this franchise again. Stop trying to compete with Avengers and Avatar. It isn't going to happen.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Yeah, I don't think this is going to be T1 or T2 in terms of visuals or the world that was created in the 80s/early 90s. We're way past that now. I predict they'll try and replicate it for story purposes, but that's all.

I expect something that looks like a cross between Days of Future Past and Terminator Salvation as far as cinematography and effects go.
