In this economy, who has so much money to piss away that think they should launch an ad campaign to get people to stop saying "that's gay."

I saw a couple commercials during baseball Friday and today.

Believe me, I get it. I'm constantly trying to correct kids when they use "gay" where "lame" would have been more appropriate, but do we really need an ad campaign?

If this falls under the category of "political" then I'm sorry, lock it up. I'd just like to hear some reaction here as I know we have a group of people here that use that term, and I know we have some gay members as well.

imo, shouldn't the whole "sticks and stones" rule apply in this situation?

Is the term that offensive? I've always found it extremely annoying but never offensive, but I'm not gay. Any gay members want to comment?

Again, sorry if this is a bad topic, but I just think this a tremendous waist of money and effort that could be better used elsewhere.

gay means happy and carefree in my book. if I want to describe a homosexual I'll use the word homosexual. I work with a couple of lesbians and they prefer me not to say homosexual because it sounds too clinical.
