I suppose if anyone wants to push for that atm it would be 3A since they are pretty much the only game in 1/12. But I have a hard enough time doing a proper lace up on 1/6, I imagine a 1/12 lace up would exist just to drive someone insane.
I think he means 1/12 in the same context as 1/6. In other words cloth clothed in-scale dolls. A lot of the Japanese stuff you mention is actually non-scale. I know there's an old line of figures I want to say from the 80s that are 1/12 scale humans with cloth clothing… I cannot remember the name of them though.
I'm not aware of much more in terms of the scale. Are MEGO style figures 1/12 or are they bigger? I thought they where more like 1/10 maybe?
The only game in 1/12? Do you realize the Japanese figure market is completely dominated by 1/12 (five to six inch tall) figures? It has become a revolution there so much so that they have robot figures go at that size now too. It's affordable, poseable, and people love them.
I don't get the 1/4 thing. For me past 12" tall even with statues or going back to the old McFarlane days, there's diminishing returns. I'm not sure if I said it here or somewhere else but if you say… look at the 1/6 scale Hot Toys Batman and the 1/4 scale version you'd be hard pressed to tell the two apart. Which means the 1/6 scale version is going to be more impressive due to the detail to scale ratio.
Same reason the 1/12 scale 3A stuff is so damn impressive. It looks better than some 1/6 scale clothing and sculpting.
I guess some people are just size queens though.
Yeah Spiral Zone is what I was thinking of. They're pretty crazy looking for being from the 80s.

Saw it on the Legion board--looks great Artoo. The robot hands work well on the humanoids.
I'm addicted to 1/12 scale. Everyone's talking about 1/4 in the figure world right now but it's all about 1/12 for me. I'm loving it, the fact that 3A make ultra cool figures helps a lot to though lol
