I still remember the cartoon express on USA. They had some great toons on there. Saturdays used to be awesome.... cartoons till noon and then A-team, Knight Rider and others in the afternoon. It was great!!! Anyone else remember manimal?

I was all about Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck, but that was the late 80's. I also watched TMNT and Ghostbusters. He-Man and She-Ra too. Oh and since I'm a chick I can admit that I also watched Rainbow Brite. That show, as I remember, had one of the best theme songs I've ever heard. Or at least I used to think so. I'd have to hear it again.

Cloud might've just become my new favorite member with that post.

And i loved this silent film(The Snowman) we used to watch in public school..beautiful music in this. There was another one i vaguely remember, it was about a large statue of a man that was crumbling and he talked to this bird all the time in it, forget the name.

That sounds like The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. I wonder if someone made a cartoon based on it.

Yes! i am pretty sure that is it, and i just viewed it on YouTube, though i remember the version i watched to be more darker animation and less vibrant colours, all i remember is the statue crumbling apart..its very possible i could be still mistaking this for another one but, this look like it.

The last thing I expected from a vintage cartoon thread was an Oscar Wilde refresher.

In the story, the statue was covered in gold and jewels, and the ghost of the prince would see suffering all around the town from his vantage point. Then he'd have the bird (a crow?) rip pieces of himself off and bring it to whoever needed it. By the end of the story, the statue was bare iron, but very much at peace.

Yup, thats it for sure..i got it all messed up. It was so long ago i watched this, i had to have been at least 6 yrs old watching it on a projector in public school.

Description from Wikipedia:
The story begins in July 2008, during a time when mankind is faced with the threat of extinction. A devastating war fought between two major nations with ultra-magnetic weapons far greater than anything seen earlier brings about total chaos and destruction throughout the world, resulting in several earthquakes and tidal waves, the earth thrown off its axis, its crust being rocked by massive movements, and the five continents being torn completely apart and sinking deep below the sea.

An attempt by a group of people to flee to outer space failed, with their spaceships being forced back to earth and vanishing, thus shattering their hopes. But one of the spaceships narrowly escaped destruction and crash landed on a small island which had miraculously survived the devastation. The crew members of the spaceship settled there, as if they were seeds sown on the island.

Amidst these survivors, a boy named Conan was born, bringing a new ray of hope to the earth. After several years, during which most of the other survivors had died and the only people left on the island were Conan and his grandfather, he meets a young girl named Lana, and their adventure begins.
