This trilogy bull***t every single time is what makes me bury my face in my palms, possibly more than anything else.

I would actually be far less cynical about it if for once they said they were making a single stand-alone movie. That would give me more faith that they might, might have something worthwhile.

Yes and the "must be a trilogy" mindset becomes even more laughable when films like Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049 come along that put all of their eggs into the basket of simply making a single great film. If Forrest Gump were made today each segment of his life would have gotten it's own two hour movie and the series would have ended/been rebooted before we even got to Vietnam.

Ironically the mention of trilogy is supposed to represent to the audience full confidence on their part in the movie they’re setting out to make lol

:lol

But that's the thing...Terminator isn't exactly easy money these days. Otherwise Salvation would have gotten its planned sequels, or if not that then Genisys would.

The new terminator trilogy in a nutshell....The first two movies will dwell exclusively on a naked old arnold going around to random people asking for their clothes....then the 3rd film starts to get interesting....

I'm actually excited for this- Cameron puts up or shuts up on this. Then again...I liked the last one....:lol

Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger has explained how the latest movie in the franchise will seek to improve on some of the confusion created by previous Terminator films.

The actor told Business Insider that, with James Cameron and Deadpool's Tim Miller behind the wheel for the reported next film, Schwarzenegger is confident the new movie will fix and simplify the formula.

“I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie,” he said. “What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.”

Schwarzenegger believes there's plenty of ground to cover with the T-800 model he portrayed, saying “He’s a machine, can be destructive, can do things human beings can’t do, but at the same time when newer technology comes along the character suddenly is vulnerable and that makes him even more interesting.”

He believes that the downfall of the previous film in the series, Terminator Genisys, came from a mix of the confusing time traveling plot and taking away the vulnerability of his character. He sees the change in direction, and the return of Cameron to the franchise, as a chance to correct some of those issues.

What happened to the whole idea of showing the human basis for the model 101 T-800? That seemed to be what they were going for to start with and now you get the impression it's just gonna be a fourth good guy incarnation of the T-800.

So far there's no new ideas. The T-800 being obsolete compared to newer technologies? That's what they've done in 4 out of the 5 films now (Marcus Wright was pretty much more advanced).
Disregarding everything after T2? Each of the other films basically did just that.

I don't understand why'd you even be interested in what they're sayin' right now.
I bet $100 they don't even have a proper first draft yet.

Vulnerable terminator... just two words they do not belong together....

And didn't Cameron say it would only be Avatar films for the rest of his life???

Cameron isn't directing so, he is still true to his word. Unless Avatar sequels don't make Avatar monies.

:lecture

It's going to be DOA just like the last three. Cameron is the "artist" now, and this guy isn't even remotely the guy that put together his classics.

All I want is a gritty, bleak as **** film set in the future like the one glimpsed in Kyle's nightmares in T1. Is that really too much to ask for? :dunno

I hope the new one doesn't try to be social commentary on many world issues and trends, something stupid **** like teenagers using smartphones to control terminators. Or terminators can now have babies, divorces, racist terminators, female terminators selling their bodies, drug addict terminators, Weinstein terminators etc etc.

Crap, did I just give them some ideas? :lol
