I doubt we'll see any new 1/6 Dead this Spook. If we get anything from the Dead line its gonna be more PF's and LCB's that most people don't wanna drop $100's on.

That piece looks to be pretty damn awesome but we need 1/6th Dead. Even if its just one a year we need to get back to it.

I always thought the pro was too much for the dead line. the buck body worked great for the dead line.

Well what I dont understand.. is with the new TV series "The Walking Dead" launching in Oct on AMC why dont we have any new dead figures.. I mean Zombies are apparently popular right now.. they are doing an entire new TV series, Resident Evil just made a new movie.. WTF .. Isnt "The Dead" owned by sideshow so they dont have to pay royalties to anyone.. and if they give us what most of us want and go back to using buck bodies it keeps the cost down too..

First and foremost, Sideshow isn't interested in keeping costs down. The rising costs have nothing to do with base bodies. They'll use the Prometheus to justify rising costs, but that is not the reason costs are increasing, otherwise, we'd see the same increase in Hot Toys prices. Hot Toys has come out with what seems like 5 or 6 new bodies in the last 2 years, and they generally stick around $160.

The death of The Dead I think has a lot more to do with the fact that it's just not profitable for them. Plastic 1/6 figures are work intensive, it's the same amount of work to source materials for a PF as it is for a 1/6 scale, but a PF sells for $300 and a 1/6 sells for $80. It's really a no brainer.

The Dead's headstone was put up a few months back right in line with Buffy, LOTR, Highlander and Indiana Jones.

The Sideshow cheerleaders go on an on about what a great bunch of folks they are and how nice they are, but that doesn't mean they do what their customers want.

That's not the point.

Well, how you posted isn't exactly how it works either. When a company develops a new body. Many hours and dollars are spent on R&D. Over the course of the first several releases on the new body, the company takes a loss on top of what they've already spent, to produce them. Over time, however, the costs balance out until eventually the company starts earning a profit on the new body. Given that Sideshow has also now developed new variations on the pro, that balance is likely reset back to negative again as there've only been 3 releases on the Pro 1.5.
