It seems kind of silly like in the first movie the man dying wish is for him to leave his daughter alone and since he cannot help himself he still pursued her which caused her to be roped into his ongoing struggle with the villains. It just seems kind of strange how at the end of the movie it has to end on a positive note. And if you wanna follow the comic he is devastated with the death and it takes Mary Jane to bring him out of that. When he recovers in 5 months of the death of his beloved it seems as though you know it was all for naught. They could have used his grief to fuel him in the third movie.

I'd say he's still grieving, he wasn't as upbeat and quippy with rhino, he just got back into being Spider-Man because it give people hope.

Gwen chose to stay with Peter, he struggled with the words of a Captain Stacy and broke up with Gwen because of that but they loved each other too much to not be together, he told her to stay away at the end but she got all feminist and refused, her death is not on his hands.

He does try to leave her alone, their relationship dynamic changes. But he's in love with her, maybe you don't know what that's like but I can assure you that plenty of dads out there have asked a young guy not to mess with their daughters and gone ignored. She's also the one that puts herself in danger, not Peter, because she loves him back.

He isn't recovered or over her. He learns that he can still grieve her but carry on the way Aunt May is. She doesn't forget Ben but she doesn't lay down and die with him. Peter still grieves Gwen but has a greater responsibility as Spiderman. That's his curse. And in the end, he mans up and accepts that while he's still broken and hurt, he's going to defend his city anyway. It's the very definition of hero. Sacrificing himself and his peace of mind so others won't have to suffer. Far and away the best ending to a comic movie. It was the idea of "with great power comes great responsibility" actually playing out instead of just being a catch phrase.

They can still show him coping with her death in the next movie, especially if he gets the symbiote suit and it feeds off his anger and aggression.

Much better than I put it :lol

um batman stayed hidden in part because all of gothams police were after him to much heat... id love to see spidy fuction if ever cop in new york turned on him get ur facts straight about bats first before you ***** !!! it only took gwens dads swat team too almost capture spidy... it how ever took the entire gotham police department to not catch bats... the truth IMO !!!

Because he took the blame. But that wouldn't stop a hero, being chased by the cops. All heroes work outside the law and at some pint in their stories are chased by cops. They don't bug out but continue on as normal

I've seen quite a number of posts in the socialz meediah of people saying they wouldn't mind that.

We love Emma that much. They could cast her as Felicia with White hair too and we wouldn't mind :lol

I thought Batman retired because the city was safe, all the criminals were locked up, he wasn't needed anymore. As soon as he was needed again he seemed anxious to get back into action. He explains this to Gordon in the hospital.

Nah, crappy superhero movies. :lol

I actually enjoyed ASM2, I just never thought I would see Spiderman failing to connect with audiences.

Superhero burn out has started.

I vividly remember the awesome atmosphere surrounding the release and post release of S2.

I remember the hype and anticipation for Spider-Man 3 was even off the charts. Those trailers got everyone revved up.

It's hard to believe, but back in 2007 they didn't even have the "early reviews" where bad word of mouth spread before the film even debuted. After months of seeing, "OH MAN, THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST SPIDER-MAN EVER, #BLACK SUIT # GOBLIN #VENOM #SANDMAN", I remember coming home from the midnight premiere, logging on and seeing everyone's mutual utter disdain for it. :lol

It was like, "so much for that".

What? SM3 had tons of early bad reviews.

I even remember Rolling Stone doing that article saying all the early bad reviews were a plot against Raimi for being Jewish or some nonsense like that. :lol

Yeah, but that's not why Spidey 3 sucked. :lol

I think the article was also saying that people were out to get Raimi because he contributed to Bush's campaign. Now, that I could see the man getting some hate from. :lol

@Jye I really don't believe in the superhero burn out thing at all yet. The problem off this film is that a large chunk of the audience can't see past the flaws in this film, and that coupled with reinventing aspects of the franchise that aren't to everybody's liking just make a large portion of the audience lose interest. Has nothing to do with superheroes or spider-man in general. This genre gets reinvigorated and remoulded constantly. Whether it's Thor's medevil war, Cap's thrillers, X-men's socially based drama, a human relationship drama like ASM1/2, Snyder's first contact, or Guardians space opera, it's almost impossible to even speak of superheroes as a genre because these films are getting heavy sub genres, which is smart and great, and attracts many audiences. The term superhero is almost as unspecific now as the term action hero and the action genre will never die. I don't see this burn out at all. If anything, it's starting to be refuelled every year.

This reboot is just a mess, it's that simple.:lol Sony's forcing this franchise to be something that Webb and Arad clearly can't make ends meet with and that results in a mess. To many still a highly enjoyable mess, and there are some brilliant and even revolutionary beats to it, but a mess nonetheless.

Concerning Gwen: I think they should stay clear of MJ entirely. Have Black Cat in there flirting with Spider-man and then what I'd love to see is
Gwen as Carnage. Seriously, I'd love to see Emma go villainous. Seems the perfect future way to go to me if Emma's up for it.

Yeah, but Gwen in the movie didn't die by a symbiote, she just died from the fall. We saw the funeral and everything.

Unless Peter dug her back up Pet Cemetery style and there was weird voodoo involved, she shouldn't be coming back as anything. Wouldn't that be a little weird and contrived?
