Just put him in the damn avengers or make the symbiote saga. All the news on ASM2 makes me so sad. I really wanted this movie to be TDK of spiderman but nope. I liked it an all but damn. Im just happy Xmen still has legs but Sony is struggling with my favorite superhero it seems.

With over four weeks of theatrical engagements, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 led the box office in May with $191.6 million. The movie opened to $91.6 million on the first weekend of the month, then fell off at least 52 percent on each of the next three weekends.

It's on track to close with around $200 million, which will make this the lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie by over $60 million. The foreign market is subsidizing this domestic shortfall a bit, though it's still undeniable that this entry marks a new low point for the 12-year-old franchise.
So then it's a flop they spent of a lot of money on marketing.

This happened with spidey 3. The promotion for that movie was insane man. I bet the sony execs are really rethinking there options now.

That goes without saying. Sony pictures Banked VERY VERY heavily on this film doing a billion dollars. I'm not certian they have many, if any other pictures coming out this summer. even if they did, this film failing can possibly cripple their studio. too many eggs in one basket.

In other words the master plan of Sinister Six and Venom capped off with ASM 3 seems like a lost cause. I look for revisions and slashed budgets.

Shame that the franchise is earning less with each picture. Good that it still outperforms most other Marvel franchises.

Hopefully they significantly reduce the world-building stuff for the third and tell a more focussed story

Hopfully we get a more serious interpretation of spiderman that is both emotional and gripping. they tried with this but to many things happened at once. They got spiderman down to a T but they need to include him in an epic story. Btw I feel Mary jane makes for a better love intrest that Gwen does. Just my opinion.

partly that, partly they had no clue what they were doing from the get-go. The original plan had been to make a twilight-esque love story about Spider-man full of unrequited love and teen angst.

Think about that for a little bit.

If you can't make money with Spiderman, you should hang it up. :lol

Yeah, something is definitely wrong. I don't know if it's that people are tired of superhero movies, or Spider-Man, or just didn't like the movie and reviews hurt business. Probably a bit of everything. But the box office numbers are disappointing, IMO. Not that it really changes my opinion on the movie, but definitely sucks to hear because I'm sure it'll change how this franchise pans out in the future.

I honestly think it's a little of everything. There's so many things and people have listed them and I honestly don't think anyone has gotten it wrong, it's just a lot of stuff they need to tighten up on.

I like it but I will admit it has it's problems but I still enjoy it .

That's how I feel. Wish Garfield could have a crack at something like SM2. This was good due to the actors involved not because of a great story or great villain to rival the hero.

Problem is and i've been saying this even before the reboot, we need a Spider-MAN movie.

The HS/COLLEGE thing is played out. We need PP to be in a job a grown man struggling for rent and juggling the crime fighting etc. etc. (like the comics)
Who wants to see this teenage bullshyyt anymore? Yes that's where he started we all know this and have known it for years. (the reboot really didn't even need to focus on it but it did)

Also focus more on the nature of his ability's something the new movies don't dwell enough on IMO. We need Spider-MAN not Spider-ANGST boy.

The new movie was a good kid movie i guess, But it coulda resonated more with fans that grew up with all the spider-stories. ALL of the SM movies so far and yes even SM2 have been mediocre IMO. (kinda like Superman only a few good ones)

I say reboot it again(or start later) make Parker 35 yrs old, don't having him saving (insert GF here) anymore, make a villain that's actually fearsome, and focus on what it is to actually BE Spider-Man.

Otherwise i guess i'm done **** the Raimi movies, and definitely **** these new ones. I mean why bother? They made SM beta!

I used to love the 90's animated series as a kid, HIS AMAZING FRIENDS, and all three Raimi pictures. In fact, I probably still do. Now, I know the Webb films have their fans (as box office would indicate), but I find them so reprehensible as motion pictures that they've made me actually dislike the Spider-Man character himself.

Don't get me wrong; Andrew Garfield is great. But I realized this the other day as I was playing MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2. It had been a while, but I actually felt a little upset when I saw Spidey show up. That's how bad I find the Webbs: I now immediately associate Spidey with unwatchable, **** movies. Even MOS and TDKR didn't make me retroactively despise their heroes like I do with Spider-Man. It almost makes me want to sell my Masterworks and Omnibi.

**** Marc Webb. **** Sony. I have no intention of ever watching a new Spider-Man movie unless he shows up in THE AVENGERS 3, or Disney sues for the rights.
