Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Gwen is smokin hot and I absolutely LOVE the suit.

:exactly: :drool

I am actually more excited for this film than Batman 3 -

Yeah not really a huge Batman fan either so i might wait to see it on DVD. Not really too hyped about the Avengers either, we'll see. This and The Hobbit are the only two films i MUST see in the theater.

Definately more pumped for this than Batman and Avengers, personally i'm sick of them already, far too overpublicised & merchandised, feel like i've seen them already

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

No doubt in my mind. I don't know why people hate the suit . It's fantastic in pics can't wait to see it in motion

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The basketball, wild berry tie dye fruit roll up suit doesn't bother me as much as the orange/yellow eyes. Why not make them white?

It's like "Oh we GOTTA be different in every way!" For me it's not even about "teh comic accuracy" or any of that crap, why ____ with something like the suit?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I like the yellow eyes : dunno

Why do you like them? What purpose do they have? Do spider's have orange/yellow eyes? Does he have that color in the comics or any where else?

What if they were pink, would you like them too?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I don't really have a problem with the hepatitis eyes, the suit is a departure enough where I'm not going to nitpick over something like eye color.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I wonder why they felt they had to go so extreme with a redesign. I mean yeah, it makes sense to move away from the traditional look from the Raimi films so that it's own thing, but, I don't know. Since it's first appearance this thing has looked all kinds of wonky. From the sneakers to the head it looks fake in nearly every pic.

If you're going to go that far, why not change the colors too? Red and black or something. I seem to recall an Alex Ross design for the first Spider-Man that was red and black that looked interesting.

Like the batsuit looks any better ?:dunno. looks fine to me. you got the Red and blue and it looks like spiderman what more do you want. We havent seen a trailer just a few pics. What do you want ? As if the real peter parker could make a genuine movie quality suit like in the old frachise. I'm still keeping an open mind on this one tho.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Depends? Which batsuit?

As if the real peter parker could make a genuine movie quality suit like in the old frachise.

With that argument, this suit looks even more complicated than the original one.

I'm pretty sure it's the same franchise too. I think you meant series.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Love the new suit!

Black and red woulda been cool, but i like what they went with. (guess they coulda lost the shoes but whateva)

It's a fair question, the new suit is looked to be based loosely on the House of M with a few elements from Ben Reilly's suit maybe even a bit from Spider-Man Unlimited especially with the yellowed eyes. Makes you wonder if Raimi had overlayed the House of M:

Whether people would have accepted it. The thing about Spider-Man that isn't the same with Batman for example or Superman is that many people jump up and holler about how his suit should be the same, but as early as 1972 there have been alternative versions of the Spider-Man suit even before the character hit a decade.

A lot of Spider-Man fans love the basic but really go goofy for the alternative, myself included. My favorite looks for Spider-Man are all variations from the Black/Symbiote to Spider-Man 2099 to Spider-Man Noir to Spider-Ben.

The general public is having a hard time swallowing it, some of them, but a lot of diehard Spider-Man fans are not only okay with it but actually liking it because they are used it from the comics where it's been happening for decades.

Alternative favorites of mine.

1.Comic Symbiote
2.Ben Reilly
3.Scarlet

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I like the black suit, 2099 Miguel, and Ben Reilly (not the one with the blue sweat hoodie) suits though? Like I said, it's not even about being comic accurate, the suit based on the images so far just look like ____ to me.

You like it Mike? Yeah, you make a good point that his appearance isn't always the same, but is this a good design? Steel toe shoes, orange eyes and just a weird ass suit overall? Just because it's different doesn't make it good. I'm not against non-traditional looks in the slightest, but this is just, I don't know what it is. I know it's my opinion but I just don't see what's so great about it from the stuff fans have gotten so far.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

My favorite of the non-traditional Spidey suits was Ben Reilly's. Loved the 70's live-action style chunky web shooters on the outside of the costume.

I'm good with this new movie suit. I could've done without the sneakers though.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I like it, I don't love it. Partly because it feels like a mix of various comic based suits but the execution isn't the best. I feel like the shoes are part of an attempt to make it look like Pete could have made it himself, takes a spray can to some already had sneakers, the webshooters from images seem to be made from hollowed out watches.

I still have a nagging feeling that since Oscorp is involved that like Bruce finds his suit in Wayne Enterprises that Pete will swipe the material at least from good ol' Normie so make it seem like he could fashion it still wouldn't be needed.

I think with superhero films you have suspend some of the realism and accept that he could make a standard suit, there is one place where this seems to be hurting from because it looks like found parts but it definitely isn't deserving of the hatred it's been getting. For me there were parts of the Raimi suit I didn't like, this classifies slightly above because it is so radical but I can understand those who feel it's too far gone.

I think your minds made up Di :lol

Interesting that you said "Just because it's different doesn't make it good" my immediate thought went straight to TDK costume change

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I never said I loved the TDK suit. In fact, you could argue that the same argument against this applies to it as well. I've always been of the mind that the more simple or streamlined the design, the more iconic and memorable it will be. Practicality or modernism be damned.

I'm not one that's against change but I bet there are design concepts for The Amazing Spider-Man that blow this one away. I like Mike's thinking about the suit maybe having origins to Oscorp, but even then, it doesn't help the look in my eyes. There's something very effeminate and off putting about this one. I know Spidey in some interpretations is very lanky and odd but in this case, it's not the proportions or even Garfield.

Dafoe Goblin got knocked because of his "over done, power ranger" suit, but this is acceptable?
