Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Oh, im sorry, Spider Man isn't corny? Gee wiz.

Nothin corny about a 10 foot tall lizard man wearing a coat. Nothing corny about a guy who dresses up like a monster who wears ____ing purple. Man of sand, man of electricty, a guy who wears leopard skin pants.

Oh...and my favorite, big burly man in a Rhinoceroses suit...:lol

So you cant say nothin about corny. Spider Man is the epitome of corn. But that,'s Ok. Corn is good. Something no one appreciates any more. You serious, serious heads.

No. If you read the comics you would understand those villains have depth in which raimi never explored.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I don't care about comics.

But i'm just sayin..depth or not, those characters are corny as hell. That's a fact.

Doesn't make them bad, in any way, because unlike most people, I think campy, corny, and cheesy are great. And are a breath of fresh air to all the gritty, realistic crap today.

Unless they're unintentionally corny. Like the Prequels. Blagh.

:lecture

Xena: Warrior Princess is one of my all-time favorite TV shows. Corny as hell. My fiancee HATED having to even be in the same room as it at first but she became hooked eventually. It's refreshing entertainment.

Oh and I am aware of Raimi's connection to Xena. That's my favorite thing he's done to date.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Never watched Xena. Not really a fantasy fan. But I do love some cheese. Aint nothin wrong with a little cheese. :D

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Corny might work in comics, but in live-actions it can come across as cheesy or campy, that scene is a prime example, it lessens the brevity of the situation especially since they used his death as a platform for Harry's serious-toned downfall

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I really didnt feel for harrys death at all. His emotions were up and down. At first he was all vengful and then when he bumped his head he was some happy go lucky fellow. WHAT?! Im sorry but im pretty sure that hit to the head didnt erase the memories of seeing spiderman lay his dad onto bed but yet he shows up at a spiderman parade and doesnt seem bothered.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

That to me was the worst part of SM3 the amnesia cop-out had harry go from a bad guy to good guy to bad guy again and back to a good guy again, it was a mess.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I think the scene with Dafoe getting stabbed like that is one of the most ridiculous scenes in the movie. It is quite a corny scene.

Yeah, they should've stuck with the source material.

Um ... errrr....hurm. . .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

That's the worst looking costume in the history of costumed villains.

So, don't talk to me about corny. :lol

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

No it wasn't and you know it. It was cool when I was twelve but it looks stupid now. I rather see a threatening face than a cheap new years eve costume.

............you would seriously rather have old granny goblin in her night gown?

I like the more..robotic/armored suit, but I would definitely love to see an actual mutated version in this series.
Someone here has/had a Green Goblin sig, and the design was insanely cool..I think it was Oscorp.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

This would've been better IMO

And this would've been so much more menacing..

Or even this...

I think they didn't want to go too scary for thes film though, for the kids.

I just find it ironic that when spider-man 1 and 2 came out, everyone was on the Raimi/Tobey bandwagon. Then 3 came out, and hating it became the cool thing to do because it didn't live up to everyones expectations. Now all the sudden it's like everyone despises the entire trilogy, despite raving about them before :dunno I'll be the first to admit that 3 certainly had its flaws, but I'll never consider it a bad film by any means.

Even more so, despite what your feelings are about the trilogy, you have to respect it because without it there very well may have never been an Avengers, Iron Man, or Cap movie...hell, maybe even Nolan's Batman. I realize raimi's weren't the first comic films ever made, and that there have been some great ones before that but it was 1 and 2 that really brought the superhero genre to the spotlight.

That being said, I admit that I'm biased towards the trilogy, but even then I just can't get excited for ASM. Martin Sheen and Sally Field...really? No J.J.?

Oh, and Raimi may be campy, but at least he's got more than 1 film to his credit :monkey3

OSCORP posted this a while back. Honestly, I think it's leaps and bounds better than the Power Ranger suit we wound up getting:
