Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Seeing as tho your just saying stuff without thinking about it. Spiderman before he kissed gwen satcy was on a rooftop with his mask off staring at all those people below. Sombody could have easily saw him. The building wasnt even that high.

takes his mask off three times I've counted. Do you read or do you just like to argue.

Lol look for your self dude. Come back when you do.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

You're drama-queening it up. Lifting the mask to kiss someone isn't "taking it off." The people took it off in the train scene, not Toby.

No, Spidey took it off in the train scene, but only because he couldn't see.

Now, honestly that moment he did NEED the mask off. It's an emotional scene. We needed to see his face there.

Technically, he could've took it off, ripped the right eye lens from the mask, and put it back on. That way the audience could see him stressing to stop the train. It would be similar to how Bane shows emotion through his eyes on TDKR.

Or the scene on Spiderman 1 before the bomb blew off half his mask.

What bugs me is he took it off and a few seconds later the sparks/fire were gone and he could've put it back on :gah:

I could've gone a lifetime without seeing his face like it was when he stopped the train, same with the slow motion running scene when he jumps of a building as Peter Parker

The lenses were burned and scorched though. So it would've defeated the whole reason he was forced to remove it in the first place. It's not like he took it off for some kid so the kid could see he was Peter Parker. :huh

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The very very long 3d trailer before Prometheus was very good but showed way too much of the movie.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

there is no need for Spider-Man's mask to come off other than Hollywood's narrow minded generic attitude thinking they know better.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

No, it's so the actor can act.

It's possible to act with it on, but it's harder. It's whatever.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

many directors have proven that theory wrong. imagine if that sort of thinking was deemed necessary for Darth Vader.

Vader isn't the best example because he's a very cold, emotionally controlled character. Not seeing his face is actually an advantage to the performance. That's not the case with Spidey which is why in artwork the artists often do that cheat where they change the size of the eyes on the mask to convey emotion which you can't do in live action.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

This again, we had the same debate way back in this thread.

Actors CAN act with a mask buy using their Voice and body to express themselves.

Hollwood mistakenly believe we want to see the actor when he's cast as a famous MASKED character

Take the train sequence in SM2 for example, his face expressed desperation and struggle againt the strength of trying to stop the train, it was expressive and ugly, if he had his mask on in that scene to express the same emotions he would've thrashed/moved his head to convey the struggle and yelled to convey the desperation, this wold be more expressive that just the face of the actual sequence

Not being able to rely wholy on face acting leaves an actor free to use his whole body for expression, ala Andy Serkis :lecture

:goodpost::goodpost::goodpost::clap:lecture

the carjacker scene in asm is a good example of showing emotion through a mask
