The more I watch this film, the more I enjoy it. Andrew Garfield, though maybe a bit more of "hipster" Peter Parker, really makes the character more relatable and, in a charming way, unique. I felt like Tobey's PP was like a cardboard dummy and was just too goofy and whiny. It still doesn't touch Avengers imo, but it's solid and I can't wait for part 2 which I feel will surpass this one easily (and I don't mean that as a knock). I will say that I was bummed that there was so little, if any, of the unique relationship PP and Dr Connors had in the comic. Really, Spider-Man didn't treat the Lizard in this movie any different than he would have of any of his other opponents. The great thing about Lizard is that Spider-Man cares so much about Connors that he goes to great lengths to not harm the Lizard. That wasn't really explored in this film--it simply didn't come up. It seemed like a standard fight with no relationship at stake. They could have had the final battle result in one of those emotional revelations or crossroads.

That's my problem i can't rewatch it. Cause i've seen it before. I liked the movie, but the replay value sucks to me. If this was the first time i'd seen the story i'd probably be Jyzzing all over but alas we know it.

That's fair. I bought this, Dark Knight Rises and Wrath of the Titans (on sale for blu ray) this week. Having said that, I had a tiring week from work and fell asleep as I watched this and WotT, but stayed up the entire night as I watched TDKR. :rotfl

Had another watch tonight.

Aunt May definatley knows he's Spider-Man. Loving the Lizard more each time i see it, and Spidey's movement and actions scenes were just perfect.

I only have small gripes with the film like Uncle Ben's death being rushed, the broken promise at the end was uncool of Pete and the cop telling Pete about the killer's Tat was out of place.

One thing i didn't notice until now though is this isn't the theatrical cut i saw at the cinema. The car thief scene had more of his webbing and jokes and the POV shot in the daylight was shortened :dunno

Can't wait for the sequel

I watched the blu ray this week and I still really like the film. There's some great scenes in the film; like the sewer web scene and the school scene when he webs up the Lizard. Love one of the very last shots of him too when he is perched on the building overlooking the city before he swings off.

I agree with both of these points. I re watched the film again recently on blu ray and that line about the tattoo really bugged me. It just seemed so ridiculous that he would mention that and felt really awkward and silly.

And agree about the sequel, I'll admit I'm nervous about it but hoping that it won't let me down. I was really impressed with this movie and hopefully now the origin is out the way we'll get some great spidey action.

Also, I love that gif nova. I can't help staring at it for ages every time I see you've posted in a thread. Haha. Especially the shot of spidey jumping. A perfect example of why I love this movie.

Yea it's an awesome movie but like oscorp said. The replay value isn't that good.

I agree, I think when this came out I rated it a 7 or 8. Usually get a DVD or Ray of something in that range (lke TDKR) and watch it a couple times through at home over the next few days. Didn't set through this again for the entirety and haven't put it back in. Its settled at more of a 5 - 6 in my mind. :(
Hoping for better story, writing, and JJJ in the next installment.
On a positive ending note, just a partial rewatching and I'm still loving the new Peter Parker actor, sorry Tobey fans, he just never seemed like Pete to me.

Don't know about that. Just rewatched Spider-man 2 and IMO it is still one of the best comic book movies made. Both actors have their merits playing the part.

I much prefer Garfield to Tobey as Spiderman. The only thing I liked more about Tobey than Garfield was his Spidey Suit ;)

Garfield will cement himself as the better PP, IF ASM2 comes out better than the first. (which it should ASM was decent but no origin = time to get it on)

They're gonna use Goblin, it's just gonna happen. (just needs to be better than SM1) But none of that is gonna matter if Jamie Foxx doesn't come in and kick some mother***in *** in ASM2... As well as SM/PP/Garfield.

This movie needs to kick some major *** IMO, no room for ***in around!

(If the Gwen storyline plays out like in comics or close it should)

:slap Forgot about Foxx as Electro. Yeah, the sequel is gonna have some Olympic ****ing hurdles to jump. :lol

Are their rumors that Spider-Man is going to fight Morbius? That would drop my expectations for the sequel considerably.
