After seeing the Avengers tonight I find it hilarious that firstly these movies are even being compared and secondly TDK is losing :lol

Might be losing but it's not bad for a 4 year old movie against the flavor of the month !

Just wanting to make sure. Read more as a statement of fact than his opinion. :lecture

In all seriousness I would be shocked if someone who had a batman themed avatar and sig thinking the marvel films were better.

Just to toss this out for the fight of the lifetime. :lol

  1. The Avengers
  2. Iron Man
  3. Thor
  4. Captain America
  5. TDK
  6. Iron Man 2
  7. Batman Begins
  8. The Incredible Hulk

From my POV

From the average of all people voting on IMDB's points of view:
https://www.imdb.com/chart/top

*Only the top 3 are on the top 250
** Being generous to Avengers as it's not had anywhere close its full share of votes yet

From the average of all critics POV:

So, you disagree with Shai about it being from a Nolannerd PoV but then post a list where the Nolannerds voted Inception in as 14th greatest all time movie. Nothing like working hard to make yourself look bad. :slap

IMDB is as good a source as any for OVERALL averages of opinions.

Noone's stopping the Marvel nerds or the LOTR nerds or the Star Wars nerds etc etc from voting up their favourite movies, and they do.

But not everyone is a fanboy of a particular franchise or Director. In the end, the law of averages wins.

How does Avengers compare to LOTR for you?

For me the LOTR movies are my top three favorite movies of all time. I've lost count how many times I've watched them over the last decade. Not to mention how much the topic means to me I mean I write a column for The One Ring.Net if that says anything. TA is a great movie and I had so much fun seeing it but its not real super close between the two.

From my POV

1. Batman Begins
2. TDK
3. Avengers
4. Thor
5. Iron Man
6. Captain America
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Iron Man 2

Not a bad point of view there.

This is pretty telling.

Mine:

4. Spiderman 2
5. X-Men: First Class
6. Batman Begins
7. The Incredible Hulk
8. Captain America First Avenger

You don't even need a law of averages. Avengers already crushed a movie that was driven into a frenzy by the general public due to the death of one of its major stars. You can't buy that kind of advertisement. they won't have that crutch for the third installment.

Don't need a law of averages? What is your point?

Crushed? Hahaha

Avatar crushed everything, does that make it any good? Case closed.

I've never watched it, but by your lack of insight, yeah, I guess theres probably a list someowhere on the internet thatsays it is. Kind of like the fact that your "law of averages" is up at the top of the page getting ____-stomped.

CASE CLOSED BRO :slap

As far as quality goes...

1. Ironman
2. Avengers
3. Captain America
4. Incredible Hulk (or Thor)
5. Thor (or Incredible Hulk)
6. Ironman 2
7. Dark Knight/Batman Begins

I swear, if any of the Marvel movies were so dark and as someone else said, pretentious, everyone would be drooling over them instead.

Almost everyone I know in the real world (and many on here) who prefer the Batman movies are so damn conceited and arrogant.

Just sayin

:horror Have you rewatched either Nolan Bat movie lately and are you just pissing with the Noalnmorons or do you really enjoy IM 2 more?

Avengers hasn't totally cushed The Dark Knight until it passes it in domestic box office.

I get so sick of people claiming Ledgers death is the only reason TDK made so much money. It made money because it was a great film and people went to see it over and over. The same is true for the Avengers. The biggest differece is 3D and rising ticket prices. The adjusted ticket prices for TDK proves this.

Adjusted openingweekends:

1.The Avengers $207,438,700
2 The Dark Knight WB $174,738,000

Add in the total number of 3D ticket sales and you're almost there.

And the third installment won't need crutch. Wait for it.

Yeah, point proven. Avatar made a ton of money and it sucks. With the cost of tickes ALWAYS going up no film will stay at the top forever. You want a real box office list? All time adjusted is really the only accurate one:

Actually, no credible list on the internet has Avatar anywhere near the top 10 or even 100 films of all time :lol

Law of averages refers to things finding their natural order over a period of time or over a wider, unbiased sample size.

This is a nerd forum, by definition, it is biased one way or another.

I like the Avengers, I like the Bat movies, you're the dude with his head up Nolan's ass, i could care less, you're the one obsessing and "looking up facts" on the internet" to try and prove an OPINION. I'd explain it further to you, but obviously any common sense type ____ is lost on you.

that's what I mean, if you like both, why do you sound so hateful? why so bitter? because we have passion over something? you really sound worst than the people that defend the Nolan movies,
sounds like the one that has a stick up the butt is someone else..., lol, not me, You dont see me insulting any of the Avengers fans in here, Sure I might not agree with them, and like Josh he might sound delusional (just kidding..) but you are getting your panties in a bunch over this, yet you claim you don't care either way? ......interesting

There's nothing to prove.

Shai 'Poseur Hulk' Hulud made a wisecrack about Nolan fanboys and their opinion - so I posted about what the rest of the world's opinions are.

I love the Nolan films, and I enjoy the Marvel ones, but don't love them.

Someone else can feel the other way around, it's an opinion, nothing to prove.

What starts the bickering is when someone posts an opinion and is called a Nolantard or Nolannerd or whatever you want to call it. I guess it's the pent up frustration that someone else is enjoying their films and their toys so much, some people feel the need to try and bash them any chance they get.

It's pretty petty and juvenile really.
