Ta-Nehisi Coates, the "book author turned comic book writer" guy. He's writting Black Panther, which is the most idiotic piece of deconstruction I've ever read. Fans hate it, but the newcomers Post-MCU CW are all loving it, 'cause it's a black guy writting THE black comic book character. It ****s on old continuity, is filled with mischaracterization, and it's nothing more than a recycled "viva la revolution" plot, just filled with SJW feminism. T'Challa gets punked by faceless mooks, gets outsmarted by Zeke Stane, two Lesbian Midnight Angels, a no-name "witch/shaman" and a "Wakandan Che". For about a year he's been getting his ass handed to him, he's been deemed an awful king, a tyrant and apparently Wakanda is now a sexist hellhole where folks rape women constantly(?!). And to top it all off, he's got this "I'm using smart and big words, look how intellectual I am" style, and casually throws African words in English sentences, 'cause somehow that makes... sense, I guess? Just look at these gems:

There's more, but you get the point. He turned Wakanda from a utopia to an unstable country with a rampant rape culture, that's mostly not shown, but always talked about. Not to mention that apparently sticks > highly advanced ships. Figures...

The poor guy just wanted to write Spider-Man and the X-Men, but Marvel wanted to capitalize on the fact that he was black, and BP was coming off Civil War, so they pushed him there.

Yeah, it's the main title. They did a spin-off with the two Midnight Angels, written by a black lesbian, which got all of dem Tumblr/Facebook/Twitter points, but sales were so crap it got canned around issue 6.

The weird thing with this whole story, is that the SJWs are just... trapped. If they criticize the book, they're badmouthing a POC headlined title, written by a POC. If they don't, they're supporting the bastardization of Wakanda. It's a paradox!

It's just weird how you can take a concept as good as the Black Panther's and ruin it. He's a warrior, scientist king with a bad-ass costume that has an Egyptian God backing him. How do you mess this up?! Especially after Hickman's set-up for the new series. He gave them the perfect launching pad, but nah, gotta get 'em 'net feminism points.

Rumor has it they're going back to the basics, starting this October. Tony seems to be returning during Secret Empire, Spider-Man is getting a more classic book, the X-Men are getting a line-extnesion. Let's hope so anyway.

Well... if you're gonna get back at your archenemy, that'd be the best way.

I wonder if this will be a one and done kind of thing. Ben Affleck signed a huge deal with Warner Bros, but a number is missing to what that deal is. Add up BvS, SS, JL, JL2 and you've got 4 (assuming that cameos are included in the deal like Marvel Studios) then you've got Gotham City Sirens, Nightwing and then this and you're at 7. Hard to think he signed too far past that. Puts A LOT of pressure for this to be good, more than was already there and you kind of see why Ben didn't want to direct on top of getting hounded over and over by all of the nerds

Well... if you're gonna get back at your archenemy, that'd be the best way.

I always loved those campy moments, truth be told. One moment you've got Doom waging cosmic war, and then you've got him shouting like a maniac and pouting like a toddler. Best thing of all, is that makes sense and doesn't break the character. It's just... perfect, really.

Stop changing characters and pushing diversity and create a good freaking story. they just want headlines and people to talk but there stories suck now. Yea you have a black spiderman but is he memorable? Does he have lasting appeal? Instead of making him "black spiderman" make him his own character and not try to piggy back off of someone else.

Although I hear Miles Morales is ok, honestly, at this point I wouldn't mind the piggybacking if these faux characters were at least good, but the vast majority of them aren't.

Even politics aside, if they were only good and not just a propaganda poster with no character, story, style or anything, just well written characters, but nope, they put these tumblr fanfic writers to the task and they can't write **** but garden variety and trite wish fulfillment or self-inserts.

Nope, art in all current forms is dead, or close to it.

There's just too much stuff and we keep recycling... Even the good/great stories are pre-recycled mish-mash of stuff that's already been done before and labeled as "influences".

I doubt anything can even be universally memorable again outside its own niche, and even there it's saturated.
