Nothing looks at bad as the Batsuit and the car. Hockey/BMX pads do not make a Batsuit. And the Batmobile is just.....a car. What a monumental letdown.

Just like all recent Batman movies, I will either love this (Nolan Trilogy) or hate this (Snyder) with no in between. Right now I’m leaning towards hate the more I see of this. Agree with Oto on a lot of points. To be blunt, the suit sucks, I just don’t like it. Same goes with Catwoman and Riddler outfits. I get this is supposed to be a year two-ish Batman but I just don’t see it. Though the Afleck suit I felt the same way initially and that suit ended up really growing on me to the point I openly liked it despite not liking the movies. Batmobile is a supped up muscle car, which I guess is fine, but is not my preference, thus I don’t really like it. Riddler might as well be a new character, not expecting much. It feels like they are trying to do too much. Corny and goofy Batman already done in the 90s. Ultra realistic take already done by Nolan. Extremely dark DKR-esque done by Snyder. What is this take? Can’t we just get a classic 00s Hush styled Batman movie or hell even a lighthearted BTAS styled movie? Hell even an HBO Max series.

I will be watching this the day it gets to HBO Max. Probably not the strongest endorsement but it is Batman and I will still watch and hope to enjoy this movie in the end.

Nolan trilogy are some of my most favorite movies ever. TDK might be my second favorite movie ever after The Godfather Part 2. I honestly like the style that they are going for with this movie and the latest trailer was good imo but something keeps telling me to keep my expectations low. Probably because I hated the latest DCEU films. I am on the same train, I will either hate it or love it and I hope it's the latter. It's a been some time since I liked a superhero movie (last one was Logan)

The DCU Batman was terrible. It was so against the comics history of Batman I cannot see how anyone who actually know the comics would see it as anything but an abomination.

Batfleck was aweful.

I have tried to watch those films and find some redeeming quality several times….all I see is trash made for a popular audience that knows next to nothing about the character.

My only hope is this Batman can capture the character correctly.

So far , the trailer seems to show the Batman as we know hime from the books…..the vengeance scene, and the car chase, thats the Batman I know. If they can add a dash of the detective part, which seems to be there. it will be a slam dunk.

I agree. So far this looks to be the closest iteration of The Batman the movies have given us yet, whether you like Twilight-boy or not.

The Riddler's core element is still there -- the riddle gag -- but I think they've made him more believable and threatening for today's world. And I think the new elements they've chosen -- Seven, Zodiac killer, serial murders, clock-tower sniper -- are a perfect way to modernize him. Though, if you really like the visual 'dandy' part of his character then I can see being disappointed. I'm willing to sacrifice The Dandy aspect for a more threatening and spooky challenge to Batman. It fits the darkness so much better.

DC has been trying to reinvent Riddler for such a long time with little to no success. The best they could do in the comics was a more serious version of Frank Gorshin, which is what The Animated Series did with the character. They didn't use him much either because they had trouble coming up with good riddles. :lol

The worst Riddler reinvention was in the mid 2000's when Batman Begins came out and they made a new Batman cartoon show. The show was fine, but some of the villain designs were terrible.

They made Riddler into Marylin Manson for some reason.

The only success Riddler has outside of Gorshin, is in the comics as a serious ginger "dandy." We'll see if "Sniper Riddler" can break the mold. Hopefully he's in more than one film.

Tom Hardy would have made a good cockney Riddler.
Yah I like thrme new Riddler from the latest books,

he was much more violent and crazy in his riddles.
The cocky cockney worked for the character for me rather than the uber nerd.

I do thonk this version is going to be back to the uber , incel nerd rage however.

I think they are gonna go with the loner crazy smart guy. The sniper firs with the school shooter angle, and many school shooters are loner nerd types.

I believe they are trying to make the villains kind of realistic to the modern era in this.

So having seen what Dano looks like without the leather mask, I will day its gonna be the Loner, incel crazy school shooter angle with a touch of absolutism in what Justice means….

As much as I like the dandy design, it looks corny in live action. There's no reason for it, is there?

Maybe he'll have a military background. The outfit, the weapons, and he seems to have some henchmen. Could be ex military.

I don't like this. I like the loner unibomber type. No henchmen or "gang". Just one man, one very smart, very demented man. He alone should be enough.
