Still love this batsuit, collar and all. ....

Collar just emphasizes Batman's always been wanting to be Zorro so bad, the nod was getting in there somehow.
it's actually grown on me too.

And with the new emphasis to make the neck more cat like (tapered in) so it can move as per Nolan's DK. Adding the collar fills it out again to better reflect the old silhouettes.

And ...
I am however ok with Paton and a Miller "Year One" cobbled together belt-and-gear Batman (actually my favorite take)

...the cobbled together chest armor, pauldorns, gauntlets loaded with gadgets, wwII style pouches, all over a baggier suit and loose pants, is somewhat ridiculously Batman repurposed onto a Mandalorian and back onto Batman.
Still somehow works for me. :lol Except when he goes around with the helmet off, and keeps the emo panda eyes is moronic.

Everything about this and the trailers we've seen have all been so generic and derivative. From being the last character to get a fired up black vintage style muscle car, to the absurd Deniro impersonation mob boss Penguin, to the whole Zodiac/Scorpio nemesis to frame Dirty Harry, the most base pedestrian cliches ever foisted onto batman, That everyone here has convinced themselves are all edgy and new, has been somewhat hysterical.

Yeah I mean what is he, a billionaire? So what if there’s cosplayers that spend a couple hundred dollars and have better suits. :lol
I prefer this cobbled together homemade look. The stylised perfectly sculpted suits of the Burton/Schumacher films are great for their realities.

This suit looks amazing and I can't wait to see him batter punks in it.

There's a new Batman movie out in 37 days people!!!

LOL ... please. That's hardly accurate.

I don't love the suit, but the film overall seems like something to be cautiously optimistic about based on what little we've seen. Just because people like the bike and the car doesn't mean they think it's "edgy and new". Maybe they're just on board for the ride to see where it goes.

You don't have to like what you see, but just because some of us are into it (for now -- no one has actually seen the film) doesn't mean "everyone here" is just a bunch of delusional sheep.

The trouble is, just about every interpretation of Batman has now already been done. Nolan did the "real world" one first, this just looks like a darker version.
It's not really a problem. James Bond had many styles and iterations although the formula was the same. No one needs to re-invent the wheel, they just need to make a really good wheel.

Seems like the movie itself slept with dudes mom or something. Idk. Guy has been hating on it for awhile now Looks like a Batman movie. Idk what people get mad at people for liking what looks like a good Batman film. So what if it’s not new or groundbreaking it fits the mold of what a Batman film should be. Now if it was new or different people would cry and complain about how it’s ruining a good concept .
Could it suck? Sure. But everything looks good so far. I do t understand what the whining is about. It looks like a good Batman movie that fits the mold into what the character should be with a new spin by a new director who is taking the characters on a story we never seen before. We will see if it’s good or not. But so far it looks great .
Like you said none of us think it looks “ edgy” but some are intrigued.
seems like whenever a big superhero gets rebooted there is a bunch of push back from fans then all of a sudden everyone is this huge fan. I still can’t believe Andrew Garfield is now considered one of the best Spider-Man when people called him “ twilight boy” and hated his guts. If this movie blows up same things gonna happen .

hating a movie even before is out is pretty stupid. I am all for hating a movie After it came out (matrix 4 is the worst thing I have ever seen.)

but hating on a movie no one has seen? yes that's pants on dumb

“Batman is investigating these crimes, all of which point to the history of the city, and that history eventually comes back to his own family history. It starts to shake his very core, and causes him to have an awakening, and to change.”

Not really a film spoiler but:

That sounds like Daddy Wayne's connection to the Gotham mob.[/SPOILER]

"...he by no means wants his Batman to be the end of the character, the final way to reimagine him. Batman is build to be reimagined and recontextualized into each generation,"

I certainly think so.

So, by your logic, what your saying is the all female Ghostbusters might have actually been a good movie?? :panic:

I can't believe so many simple minded people felt it looked awful and didn't see it. That's so mind blowingly eye opening. I guess I should give it a try. I mean, maybe its the best movie ever made? To think all this time I've avoided it. :slap

What a tard I've been toward that movie.... :monkey3

Maybe Eternals really is the best MCU movie yet!!

:rotfl

Damn I should’ve never blown off that italian Fantastic Four movie :gah:

the collar makes him look more like a bat, it even works more for the bat look

Except "the bat look" you are invoking even in your image sill has the thick neck. That^ is not an apt parallel. since that would not correspond to his (collar)neck (see below), but his shoulders and where the "hand" splays out on the classic Batman silhouettes.
The thick neck is still there underneath on a bat...

What the thick neck Batman cowl references, is the heavy weight of that neck straight down into the torso, which gives him the aggressive beastly look of the bat.

The tapering in neck of DK Bale, now on Pattinson (while it gives more mobility) completely betrays the thick neck "the Bat look" Batman has always had,
And instead makes him more feline.

The added collar (for better or worse). here somewhat works to compensate for that lost classic Batman silhouettes, while also references more romanticized predecessors Darcula , Zorro, etc. :wink1:

Again collar has grown on me, just pointing out it doesn't do what you or your image imply.

it is extremely ridiculous to compare ladyBusters to this movie, for one, seeing how LadyBusters put all their main jokes and showed their main action set pieces in trailers and clips (but we know very little about this batman)
LadyBusters literally gave away the ending on clips,

and second, the reasons you are hating on this batman are superficial. you guys are hating on a suit or a car or a giant forehead. hating on the kind of mask catwoman wears or hating on a set design

right here right now, i ask you to name a reason that you hate this movie plot wise, come on, tell me what you hate about the plot or something, give it here
