And the same goes for us that are unimpressed. If this does in fact turn out to be the turd I feel it looks to be, then us naysayers will be laughing at all you excited hopefuls that were, yet again, let down by DC/WB...



But for me, either way, I'll still be waiting till it hits HBOMax for free before I watch. Too many fanboys lie to protect their feelings. As do the pathetic reviewers always afraid to give an honest opinion for fear from being blacklisted from upcoming premiers and events. The shills.

Well if it does suck we can laugh at it together. I have no problem with that. And laughing at myself for being hyped about it. Sorta like I did for the asm films

Viewed one way, it's funny as hell, but within context it works for me.

And I challenge anyone here to run as fast as they can in a cape and not look like Adam West.

It's Batman. I allow for certain things or it turns into a Nolan snoozefest by default. Something boardies are already accusing this film of, but whatever.

But like I said, its out of context so hopefully it won't stick out so loudly within the movie itself. TDK had a bunch of silly looking moments too out of context.

I'm not sure what was said before the punch but clearly, and someone said earlier, Batman is likely warning Gordon that there's crooked cops and hits him to give him cover.

That's fine. Maybe its just the one shot they could have cut. Go straight from cops bumbling on closed door to Batman raising arm with gun snapping into grip.

At 1st I thought Bats was gonna kiss Gordon.

Then I realized he's just racist and was baiting the black cop, but Bats punched him 1st!!

The other cops didn't like that.... That scary look on Bats face tells it all... So Edgy...

Yeah, that shot just took me right out. Once again, made me question the cape.

Out of context or not, it just kills the illusion and mystic of the character. Batman is often shown in control, his movements calculated and precised, like a ninja or an actual "Bat-man." The way the scene was shot, it shows Batman running around like a little kid, out of control, just a normal guy with a big head in a bat costume. Maybe that's the idea, to make him more "human," but it does look silly. The fact that Batman suckers punch Gordon is not silly, it's that they actually show him running away and pushing people out of the way just like any other person who isn't Batman would do. If he were wearing a suit and tie, it wouldn't look silly, but because he's dressed in the Batman costume that's supposed to intimidate, evoke fear, and respect, it makes the whole thing look like a comedy sketch.

The scene would look better if instead of a long-distance shot...or whatever the technical name is, if it was a close up shot from the waste up of him escaping and pushing people away. That might look better.

Yep;

Batman - "Who's the mustache with the broken nose?"

Gordon - "That's Kenzie, Narcotics"

Batman - "He's one of the guys I got into it with at the Iceberg Lounge"

Gordon - "You saying Kenzie moonlights for The Penguin?!"

Batman - "No, he moonlights as a cop"

He's basically telling Gordon that Kenzie is corrupt and a rat working for The Penguin, having previously beat him up at the Iceberg Lounge. Now, Kenzie obviously knows that, by now seeing him working at GCPD, the Batman has figured him out. Seeing the Batman speaking to Gordon, Kenzie's probably thinking that the Batman is exposing his cover to Gordon, and Kenzie will now likely want Gordon silenced/killed.

By punching Gordon, Batman is eliminating any thoughts in Kenzie's mind of any kind of alliance between Gordon and the Batman. In fact, probably now making Kenzie believe that the Batman is an enemy to Gordon, and therefore Kenzie's secret probably wasn't exposed. Gordon is no longer a loose end that Kenzie needs to "deal with".

By punching Gordon, Batman has bought Gordon time to rat out the corruption in GCPD, and likely saved Gordon's life, as he now won't be a target for Kenzie and other corrupt cops in GCPD.
