I’d say the film has set a certain boundary for the franchise but nowhere near the Nolanverse. I can see Clayface, Freeze (as they’re hinted at for the sequel) etc. No where near what Nolan was willing to touch.
I'd totally be down to see how Reeves could make Freeze work in this Gotham. I've seen a few fan edits/art on Twitter to convince me he could be great!

Is that you Robert? I'm gonna have dolls of you, you know. Would you sign them for me? All of my dolls and... things...

All right then so the overall general consensus is some of the best Batman imagery and gripping scenes ever put up on screen completely ruined by a flaccid MCU style climax…..ok sounds fair now bring on more Affleck Batman this year lol

I finally saw this last night and after catching up with the thread I'll just say that I really enjoyed it for many of the same reasons that have been reiterated here ad nauseam. I disagree with you about the climax though, as I liked that it allowed for Batman to evolve from a vengeance fueled vigilante into a true hero and symbol of hope for the citizens of Gotham. It also felt right to me that Riddler's plan didn't end with killing Falcone. I did have to suspend my disbelief over the whole flooding the city plot - I don't recall their establishing that Gotham was below sea level like New Orleans lol.

Batfleck was probably the best thing about the Snyderverse, but unlike Keaton I don't see his return resonating with audiences the way Tobey and Andrew did. I just think that when it comes to previous Batmen that DC should just

I also think that having a multiverse Flash movie may be viewed by a majority of the general public as a desperate attempt to copy the NWH formula for box office success.

For me it was just a boring dedective tv show and a big disappointment that they use the rights of Batman and his villains to show this dedective movie as sth else but unfortunately it was not.I know there were hardcore Batman fans like me waiting on their shoulder with a bazooka like Nemesis after reading my comment but sorry folks this was not my Batman and did not meet my expectations at all even the Burton's Riddler and Penguin that we laughed years ago is way better than this trash. Please just don't make a movie to only make one and do not use our favourite characters and do not think we are just bunch of nerds or idiots are going to love those movies just because you are just able to use that logo and names.

Part of the larger problem is Batman, at least the stories being told now, are the same kind of films in timeline and that's being oversaturated.

A TV series about a pair of Gotham detectives would be interesting

A TV series about the people who have to work at Arkham Asylum would be interesting

A limited 10 episode TV series ( think like Midnight Mass) covering Frank Millers Batman Year One or The Dark Knight Returns would be interesting

A better use for a film would be what was done with The Animatrix, which was a collection of short tales within the world building and universe. More akin to World War Z the book.

Screw affleck. Bring in Keaton bats. The cult made me despise anything connected to that crap universe. Hope Barry buries it.

Barry will bury it... inside Keaton.

Keaton is too old. As much as I'd like to see that 89 Batmobile again, having him as the anchor to a DCEU multiverse seems a tall order.

Oh gosh yes the return of Keaton is the driving force behind that Flash movie NOT Ezra or Affleck lol

Regarding this whole Batman HOPE thing….

HELL NO not after only year 2!!!

Who does he think he is Obama lol

His *** belongs in the shadows going after bad guys

I guess you can say it builds his character because it shows how naive he is about building hope which goes right into the smarter female literally telling Batman he is an ***** for believing in hope lol

Batman = dumb and naive

***** Catwoman = smarter and sassier

More woke crap lol

Well OK, maybe it's a bit too early to have him be a symbol of hope but at the very least he'll be seen as more than a vigilante. I'm sure there were plenty of press present at the mayor's event and they would have been witness to his fighting to save their lives. That and his pulling double duty as a first responder in the aftermath for all the world to see lol

I totally agree with Frank Millers Batman but it's just a dream

That's a bit unfair. There are girls on TikTok (and before that Instagram, and Vine, and I guess there's OnlyFans too) who are hotter than any celebrity. Every comic-book dream you've had can be found there. That goes for men too. I'm talking about some real-life statue blokes. It's not a fair comparison. It hurts more when you realise those are "normal" people...
Ummmmmm Wow!

I took it more as he was someone not to be feared by law abiding citizens. I figure the criminal element will still be handed major *** kickings

Imo, it was a visual thing to show that Bats had come to know that there needed to be more to crime fighting then just vengeance.

im good with that.

As a retired medic who was inside the ground zero hole I can appreciate his involvement but let me handle the mundane stuff go be The freaking Batman!

But think about it Jaws it doesn’t make any sense that a vigilante would think that the law and politicians would be able to associate themselves with him out in public like that even though he was performing public safety duties.

Yes he saved the mayor but he was also a law breaker performing illegal surveillance and a practicing vigilante.

He made them all look hypocritical and law breakers themselves by his presence alone out there in public with them all.

Thematically to the plot it is dumb and contradictory.

Well, he's an alleged law breaker & practicing vigilante lol. We saw him beat the crap out of common criminals & mobsters and perform illegal surveillance, but it's not like the new mayor had evidence of those acts. She only saw him helping prevent a massacre and saving countless lives. He was only seen in public with law enforcement & politicians after those heroic acts. And yes, I'm completely ignoring his perfectly legal high speed chase of the Penguin that resulted in untold death and destruction. There were no plates on that car - it could have been anyone driving.
