Full deleted scene

Whoa...

Two thoughts:

1. A great scene! Really liked the back and forth and both the Joker's look and how he was played. I also liked that he was so out of focus for the majority of the sequence.

2. But I'm glad it was not included in the movie. For one I feel like it relies too heavily on "out of universe" audience knowledge of the Joker and I'd rather have all characters in this universe be introduced as if they didn't exist elsewhere. And then the other reason I'm glad that it was cut is that I think that the foreshadowing of the parallel between the Riddler's goons ("I am vengeance") and Batman's own crusade was too on the nose and would have spoiled that a little too soon.

Otherwise I loved the scene in and of itself and would be totally on board with them keeping this Joker for the next one. :rock

Damn even the stuff left on the cutting room floor was freaking awesome. :thud:

Looks they combined Ledger's Joker and Valeska from Gotham and this is was the result, was he this disfigured in the cameo that made it into the movie? I don't recall.
Either way it once again feels like the actor/director are borrowing heavily from Ledger and other versions that came before while putting their own spin on the character by making him some sort of burn victim by the looks of it, perhaps he fell into a vat of acid or chemicals like the comics, overall not really impressed but cool to see nontheless, still would've preferred to see Dafoe play the role.

You can kind of see the scarring in the shadows during his scene in Arkham, so, I feel like they kept the same applications. The only thing I think seemed different (though, admittedly, it could totally be my mind playing tricks on me) is his hair gave me kinkier, Killing Joke vibes in the actual cameo the way it appeared in the silhouette.

I like the laugh. Glad it was deleted though. Batman going to him for answers seems a step back of Batman being a detective in this movie.
That's a great point as well. If Batman is a good enough crimefighter to have caught the Joker then I'd prefer that he stop the Riddler as well without help.

Really? At first glimpse I didn't see a ton of Ledger there other than the (further exaggerated) scarring on the face. I feel bad for Joker actors since they can't shake Ledger's shadow. I'll watch it again to see if you're right, but there's a monstrous feminine quality in the performance that I never got from the coiled, masculine physicality behind Ledger's performance -- and yet it's not the mincing effeminate airs Phoenix's Joker put on in the talk show scene.

still would've preferred to see Dafoe play the role.
Dafoe is an amazing actor and I once shared this view, but I've seen him chew too much scenery as Goblin and can't help but think I'd be watching 'Dafoe-as-Joker' the whole time. I'm kinda over wanting him as the clown.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Dafoe as Goblin and the Joker in two films playing simultaneously in theaters? Nah I wouldn't want that.

But even without NWH I still like seeing the new guy as just the Joker and nothing more. A lot of what made Ledger Joker and Farrell Penguin so great was that the actors truly disappeared within their characters.

It's mostly the voice and mannerisms I'm talking about, seems like everyone tries to copy that from Ledger.

I think Dafoe would be a great crime lord older Joker type, I miss that version of the character, ever since Ledger we've only had young and mostly cringy jokers, Phoenix is the only one so far that's been sort of different in that regard, while still standing on Ledger's shoulders by his own words.

Yeah that's not what I'm seeing -- but I'll watch it again.
I've been watching a ton of Ledger Joker videos in the past few days so maybe that's why I'm projecting him on this interpretation, I'm just not really feeling this Joker based off this one clip, feel the look is trying too hard and too similar to Valeska and the laugh is a bit forced, still my opinion shouldn't stop anyone from liking it, if you do that's awesome.

You may actually be right, or it may be an artefact of the heavy make-up and prosthetics introducing a ... 'slur' or 'muffle'. Now I'm questioning what I'm seeing! :ROFLMAO:

That may be it, Ledger was contantly licking his lips to keep prosthetics in place since they could muffle his speech and eh didn't want to spend half an hour getting it applied again during fliming, but don't let my opinion dissuade from liking this version haha.

I agree with everyone I’m conflicted lol

I agree with it being cut out because it was too much on the nose regarding what was going to occur later it would’ve watered it down so smart decision on the cut!

I want to know more though about him!

I agree with RRX very similar voice to Ledger and Dafoe would make a great crime Lord but I’m also okay with this younger version!

But holy crap I agree that needed subtitles lol

I thought that guy's Joker performance was creepy good. IMO he comes off a bit more unhinged/insane than Ledger's Joker, who while psychotic still came off as more criminal mastermind than total nutjob. And I like that they're starting off with Batman & Joker already having a history. The movie's set in year 2 of Batman's crime fighting career, right? So maybe we're to assume he got those burns (chemical?) as a result of their first encounter. Still, makes sense to cut the scene for the reasons others have mentioned. But letting us see it gives us a taste of their history and a glimpse of what may yet come. :clap

Wait we wait wait is this the first time a studio has released a deleted scene fully intact and finished while the movie is still in theaters!!! :panic: :thud:

WB is freaking DUMB lol
And for people who still haven't seen the movie now they'll be disappointed to discover that Joker is barely in it while simultaneously having his cameo spoiled. Great move WB. :lol

But in Reeves' defense now we know that Joker was supposed to be a legit character in the movie and not just a MCU-style Thanos tease at the end.

I've just watched it. I really liked it. Didn't think I would however I was fully engaged in the conversation between the two of them. So much potential there.
