Not a fan?

When Batman takes the papers/files back from Joker, the paperclips are missing. Perhaps just a continuity error, or something to aid in his eventual escape?
In the real world, no institution would allow you to send paperclips to a criminal/psychiatric patient.
pretty much a direct silence of the lambs ripoff

You’re not wrong the scene does play out exactly as you described the scene is what it is I’m just enjoying stirring the pot and messing with Clown lol

It’s just fun extrapolating on the Batman Joker dynamic.
Did I ruin it? Lol!

Reeves said that this is a "pre-Joker Joker" who hasn't fully become the Clown Prince of Crime yet. And that his appearance is due to a congenital birth defect that he has had a very dark emotional response to. His entire life he's never been able to stop smiling.

He takes inspiration from Conrad Veidt in the silent film The Man Who Laughs who apparently was the template for the original character in the comics as well.

Leto was chilling in ZSJL. The epilogue was my favourite bit.

He was good. I wish that whole segment was a film. We've never seen Batman and Joker working together in a film. I'd be interesting to see that dynamic, maybe seeing them form some kind of bond. I don't think Joker hates Batman. Batman might hate Joker, but a part of him feels sorry for Joker and responsible for making him a monster.

No but then if there is no other motive for Batman to be there other than ask for help then in 5 seconds Joker made detective Batman look incompetent, my interpretation of the scene not looking so bad now is it lol

Joker literally had the files for 5 seconds and he figured out the motives and connections to each other which Batman and Riddler will repeat to each other later in the movie.

The scene needed to be cut because it seriously deflates both Batman and Riddler plot and adds the the risk of Joker hijaking the movie away from Riddler.

So yeah in my mind Batman was there for self reflection with his demons.

Yep the scene is an awesome introduction to the Joker himself but it's at the expense of both Batman and the movie so cutting it was a wise move.

Had they added an extra psychological layer of Batman drowning out Jokers advice on the Riddler being muffled with Batman’s own thoughts of his vengeance demons they could’ve played up more the dynamics of their relationship versus just Batman not being able to figure out clues.

For example Batman could’ve actually been there trying to fight himself from just killing Joker and using the excuse of needing help on Riddler just to get in there :horror
