Cinematography and Score were the two glaringly obvious snubs. I'd even throw in an argument for Best Picture. But the snubs for Cinematography and Score are nothing short of proof that the Oscars are no longer about recognising/rewarding genuine quality and creative achievements in film.
That's the thing about institutions and power in general. Ideals drift. Power corrupts. Things fall apart. Regular renewal fueled by critical thinking, rather than dogmatic ideology masquerading as compassion is what human endeavour needs, lest we atrophy and rot.
