Is Matt Reeves busy with something else? What's taking him this long to finish his script? At this point, Batman Pt. II & III should release back to back in 2027 and 2028.

Maybe the studio wants to see if Gunn's approach works better... that way they have time to "lighten up" The Batman II
I’m pretty sure it’s a Reeves problem. Sounds like he writes super slow. A five year wait for the sequel is ridiculous.
Either way I have just the guy to lend Reeves a hand, and he has a track record of helping DC out in times of need. :chase

Crazy they waited till the year of the planned release to announce it’s delayed two years.

What have they been doing all year?

Just sitting around gauging if The Penguin would be a success worthy of continuing the story?

We should’ve had a sequel instead of a tv show that has taken time and resources from the entree.

Don’t get me wrong, the show felt a bit refreshing regarding the state of tv shows in general, but in no way would I choose that instead of a timely sequel.

As indifferent as I am about Pattinson’s portrayal,
it’s undoubtedly the best part of this universe, beyond Sofia, Penguin, certainly “Joker”.

Starving us on his potential has made me lose interest altogether.

I swear this series is cursed. The Batman got bumped about a year from its original release date because of Covid. Then the Penguin got delayed nearly a year because of the strikes. And now this is getting delayed again because… ??? I get taking your time to craft a good story but honestly it’s just excuses at this point. Anyone of us could have written a decent The Batman 2 but this point. I’m not sure if the plan is for a young, prime, and old Batman for each of the three films but that’s sure what it’s shaping out to be if they don’t hurry up. Hopefully 2 to 3 won’t be as long of a wait.

Maybe a Penguin season 2 to hold us over isn’t such a bad idea. Of course TV shows take forever for a second season these days. At least network TV can crank out a show like clockwork still.

the irony being that the first the Batman was pretty badly written.

WB -Peter Jackson shot lotr in a cave! and released the movies back to back yearly and they were all phenomenal and the last one even won best picture!

Matt reeves- I’m sorry sir. I’m not Peter Jackson

I wonder if they have someone they believe to be the only option for a villain or supporting character, and as such they're delaying to work around that actor/actress's schedule.

It's probably a combination of issues. Overall, WB might be rethinking its approach to the DCU. Some of that might just be Gunn. Wait and see if he's right with Superman.

I'm certain the flop of Joker 2 had a "pump the brakes" effect on decision making there. At the very least, a "let's take one more look"...

And also Pattinson will be part of Nolans new movie, which is planned for a 2026 release. Maybe his schedule is becoming an issue as well, thanks to all the postponing of The Batman Part II.
