Sucks this comes out 2027. Apparently Gunn is thinking of making Pattinson Batman his main DCU Batman. I can imagine why is because Matt already builded the world and established Gotham the best way. But who knows what the plans are for the universe I would love for it to stay in it's own world, another actor to play Batman in Gunn's universe closer to the comics in terms of the bat-family, and his rogues would be best. But how would you guys feel if he tried to connect these films to the DCU?
It was already confirmed by Gunn Matt's Batman is an elseworld story. Pattinson is not the DCU Batman.

I can understand George R. R. Martin having writer's block after weaving 5 books of intricate subplots...

But here you have Matt Reeves stuck on ground ******* zero, with a story he can take in any direction.

Take a hint. You're not cut out to be a writer. Let someone else do it.

i honestly think it's WB being stupid yet again. joker bombed hard so they are probably not fast tracking the batman becuase in there stupid minds they think people won't watch batman content becuase of that movie. Also they are betting alot on this superman movie. there have been reports that the movie didn't have a good test audience screening so mayabe that also had something to do with it aswell.

Remember these guys aren't very bright. They had there whole DC roster but still lost to Marvel who had half of there characters.

I think one of the major issues he must be having is the psychological pressure of competing with Nolan’s trilogy - especially if he plans to have any major role for joker in his second - there will be inevitable comparisons with TDK. He knows his script needs to be absolutely killer. Also the pressure of following up the quality of writing in The Penguin - it’s not easy to write these things.

Also I really don’t think the push to 2027 is entirely to do with delays in the script. I think WB are definitely looking to see how Superman does so they can decide what to ultimately do with Reeves’s Batman franchise

Yes WB exec stupidity has to be one of the major reasons we are seeing this BS mishandling yet again.

I think when this eventually comes out in 2029, or whenever the hell, they should put a recap of the first movie at the beginning. Like what HBO does for its shows that go on hiatus for a couple years between seasons.

I get the reasoning to want this, but if we’re waiting this long, I don’t want to see a single recap of the first film, nor The Penguin.

I don’t want to revisit old ground with the screen time at Reeves’ disposal, jump ahead much further than a pointless week and don’t look back. He’s got far too many things to flesh out that he failed to do so in the first or The Penguin.

It worked well for TDK, nothing from Begins thrown in your face saying remember this, and that was three years after the first. If your story is good enough,
you don’t have to rely on this crutch.

Show us your Batman has been doing things since we’ve left the universe.

He’ll appear stagnant if nothing’s happened all the real world years later since, even if narratively speaking it hasn’t been a true five years.

Though honestly, I like the idea of seeing Bruce a true five years after our introduction to him, it’s nice to see our characters have grown without eyes on them every step of the way.

If it’s 2027 when we get this and the flood is still a point in his film, he might as well not even write the script.

Oh, that was purely sarcasm. I’m just annoyed that it’s taken 5 years between each Matt Reeves Batman film.

I'm not paying to watch Gunn's Superman. I simply don't care for the direction they're going with. The only thing I'm remotely interested in, is The Batman part II. But at this point, my interest has waned, and I won't bite another spinoff either without a taste of the main course.

Why would they consider Pattinson for the DCU? Makes no sense whatsoever. Bad for both. But I wouldn't put it past Gunn to do it.

Pattinson signed a large holding contract with Warner Bros. The situation may evolve where they pay him to either show up in Gunn's films or pay him to just not show up at all. The latter option is non viable. If Corenswet does not break through as Superman, someone will have to "anchor" the future DCEU ensemble films. Pattinson is bankable. He's proven he can be the lead in a successful tent pole production. When high level creatives do interviews and talk about how they have this grand long term sweeping "plan", it's all basically a bunch of horse &*$%. If you have enough films over time, like a decade in length, you are going to have to adapt.

Gunn's job is to deliver the impossible. Obviously Pattinson in the Gunn arc of the new DCEU is probably not ideal at this point, but sometimes you can only play the cards you are dealt. At any given point, Gunn gets a new hand of cards. Some will be self inflicted, or a byproduct of his own previous choices, some will be inflicted upon him. Either way, his job is to find a way to execute at a high level and deliver some wins. Fair or unfair has nothing to do with it.

Sometimes the cards you are dealt, there is no Win/Lose situation possible. Sometimes there's no Win/Win scenario. Sometimes you have to manage different tiers of losses you can't avoid. It's just how it works. No one loves it. No one likes the mechanics of it. And it's often not fair nor sensible, but people often don't really have a choice in the matter. If you want to survive in the industry, you need the reality, perception and reputation of being able to execute and deliver wins against all odds. These are incredibly difficult jobs, very few people can do them well, and even fewer can garner consistency in doing them well.

None of this is as easy as many people perceive it to be.

Matt Reeves confirmed The Batman part 2 has been cancelled.
