I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing I didn’t own the latest SW 4K discs.
Shag-Chi and the Liemax of Ten ScreensShang-Chi 4K disc does *not* have IMAX aspect ratio.

RO 3D > RO 4K
But if RO 3D 4K ever became a reality I would
Great point.Once they're gone... its over. So sad.
I really don't understand why that technology didn't catch on. I bet it would have fared better if 3D was around during covid. People had time to explore.
Do I think certain 2K DI elements still exist within these convoluted SE movies, I do.Got the 4K versions ANH, ESB and ROTJ -- full OT 4K -- $2.99 each!
Just got to watch them now. Tomorrow. You better be right about this.
Great analysis the movies benefited greatly from the modern scanning, coloring and fine tuning of depth which gives them a deep classical richnessOK, so I have to THANK choombaz and Jye for convincing me to get the 4K Star Wars OT... they were right, there is a huge difference in the picture quality between my old bluray discs (bought them in 2013) versus the new 2020 4K discs.
First and foremost, there is this wonderful 'warmth' to the movies, like they are being projected in a movie theater. I can't quite explain it but the movies aren't as bright as the old discs -- making the sets look alot less set-like (especially the bridge of the Executor). Also, the hot spots are gone -- hot lights had a kind of almost glare on the old discs. The Death Star corridors are properly shadowy and the sands of Tatooine are crisp and clean. The grit and grain that used to plague Hoth is now gone. And the picture is much sharper. That first shot of 3PO walking up over a Tatooine dune looks a wee blurry on the old disc but on the new 4K he is very sharp indeed. There seems to be quite a lot of tweaks since my old 2013 (or earlier) discs were made, lots of color correction and adjustments, not just Maclunkey. God, that Maclunkey bit is stupid. How did George feel that was a necessary bit to add? Anyway, one of the things I had forgotten about was the orange light on the bottom of the Falcon when Vader enters the hangar in ANH -- the old discs and TV have muted it to a dull brown for so long -- but now I was instantly transported back to 1977. I can't tell you why I remember that color there, maybe because of the black-and-white overall aesthetic. It is little things like that that I picked up on and love. Yes, I know ANH like the back of my hand.
So thanks Choombaz for all the critical reviews and information that convinced me... and thank you Jye for saying you couldn't live with yourself without the 4Ks. I think that did knock me over the line.
Disney OT versions of 4K77 would definitely add a few layers of polish above what TN1 was able to accomplish as great as they are.ANH particularly benefits from being a little darker overall. Man I dream of the day Disney releases the original cut 1977 untouched Star Wars with the clarity and richness that these 4K discs have. It may be the ultimate pipe dream. But these 4K will definitely be my new go-to film reference for colors on toys and figures.
I need more speakers to really benefit from the Atmos sound. That will be my next project -- figuring out how to get surrounded by sound when my sofa is up against a wall.
And one day -- OLED.
Unless you physically install ceiling speakers you will just have to do with the soundbars and rear speakers that have dedicated up firing ATMOS speakers.
The super expensive soundbars do have great ATMOS but holy crap are they expensive.
Nope lolIf I'm not a AV-ophile can I get by spending half the cash on LG NanoCell rather than OLED?
