You said "most reviews put the UB820 above the lower model" but that came several sentences later and not whether that was the model *you* were actually talking about or as an alternate take that "most reviewers" make. Anyway, you clarified, so thank you.

Just realized too, the 450 has the Dual HDMI outs. That's a big one. Like Jaws said, I didn't know they started selling the 450 here in the US.

He’s referring to the 820 and it was a really good black Friday deal he is right and while I do agree with him regarding the differences and if you’re willing to spend the money then definitely go for the 820 but if you’re on a budget then you really can’t beat the 450 with it being only $171 that’s super cheap nowadays for having auto DV and HDR10+.

Especially if you don’t care about upscaling HD to fake 4K.

I own both Wi-Fi and no Wi-Fi 4K players so I’m OK with this one being attached to my ethernet cable and even Loki admitted that he no longer needs the second HDMI port lol

Just remember one thing.

If your TV is 4K then it is upscaling everything you play on it..no and, ifs or buts.

That 4K TV will automatically fill every single one of its pixels, no matter what signal you send, it has too!

That being said, the upscaling won’t be as good as the 820 player.

I must add the quality of upscaling can be pretty important though. Unless you enjoy constantly upgrading you favorite movies from VHS to LD to DVD to BD to 4kBD... and so on.

I would assume most members that come to this thread want to own and experience they're favorite movies in the best possible way. Or else you'd be content to just streaming content and listening to your TV's speakers. And would also be buying standard Blu-Rays over 4k discs. Or even worse, still buying DVD's.

I will add though, I was damn surprised how good a DVD actually looked playing on my Pany 820 and watching it on my 65" LG OLED. They looked much worse on my previous Sony Blu-Ray player. I still have many DVD's that either I don't want to rebuy, or have never been offered on BD. I think I'm more shocked at how awful the old standard Dolby Digital/DTS soundtracks on DVD sounds today when compared to uncompressed audio formats such as DolbyTruHD/Atmos and DTSHD/DTSX.

I’ve been saving my Amazon Reward points for the 820.

I already own 1 and love it. I would not mind having a backup as I am afraid that one day there will be an announcement that nobody is going to make 4k players anymore

Actually this is my 2nd player and that’s my 1 complaint. I had my first one for like 5 years give or take and then it started having lots of issues playing 4k discs. Not regular blu rays just 4k

I got the 32 later... took me and another big guy to hike that monster upstairs to the 2nd floor. Must have been 3 feet deep too.

And it had a sharp edge around the bottom as opposed to just being totally flat so that if you set it down hard without moving your hands it'd slice your fingertips right off!

For 4K 100% the exact same.

HD upconverted to 4K absolutely not.

That’s the dirty little secret in the industry the 450 has the same 4K DV quality as the $1500 players!

The difference in price comes from the better built components (and better upconversion).

Just make sure your player gets ventilation.

So I thought that the Sony mini LED Bravia 9 was going to be the LED TV to finally bring me back over from OLED….

But nope!

Bravia 9 still insane bright image quality but **** that blooming no matter how minor.

Great 2nd TV though.
