Yup. Tired of the rebels fighting the storm troopers and the resistance or whatever. Give me the Jedi abs Sith Lord that we barely explain outside shows and books.
Exactly. They keep doing the same stories over and over and over again. Either pallete swaps or literally the same retreads. I suppose people still enjoy them in the same way I still enjoy basic stories of Vader hunting down Jedi, but like I said, I don't get going into Star Wars and caring about the adventures of some random pilot.

I think focusing on Jedi and Sith is when Star Wars becomes too stilted. Soap-operatic. It is wonderful background stuff... but shouldn't be the forefront. Because its so vague as a religion, it can't be spotlighted or you do a disservice to the mysticism.

Its called Star Wars... and I think the stories work best in times of war. Rogue One helps prove that.

ANH had the right balance. Ben and Vader's mysticism was background story; intriguing but better left unexplained.

Otherwise, you get... midichlorians.
Eh, I disagree. Star Wars' unique selling point is the Force. You don't have to demystify if you focus on it. I've never seen the appeal of everything else beyond the Jedi/Sith as anything but window dressing. Why should I give a single care in the world about some smuggler or basic soldier when I could be watching/reading/playing the adventures of a jacked swordsman warlock? The latter I can get only in Star Wars. The former I can get in literally every single Sci-Fi franchise.

I suppose I never understood the mentality of caring about the supporting characters more than the stars. I get invested in something only if I like the MC. It's like the people who watch Doctor Who and like the companions more than the Doctor, or the people who like Trek and search for spin-offs staring the Engineer or whatever. I just don't get it.

The Jedi & Sith are the only thing in SW that is unique and have the biggest story well. You can do whatever you can think of with them. Times of war or peace. An in-depth look into their structure at a particular point in time or a vague, aesthetic solo tale. Anything and everything. I can't find that anywhere else. Some smarmy schmuck with a gun shooting space gangsters I can find anywhere.

It's just good vs evil, down to the way both sides dress. Personally, I just like the lightsabers and when they use their telekinetic powers. That's all I want from SW. That's why I want a Vader centric show or movie. A cool looking character that does cool stuff with his powers.

My ideal SW protagonist wouldn't be a Jedi, it would be the Han Solo type, or a traditional 70's or 80's manly hero with Jedi powers, in other words, CABLE from X Men. :)

I don't care for whinny Luke, or stupid female empowered characters like Rey, or weirdo monks like Obi Wan and the rest of the Jedi virgin squad.

Give me Dash Rendar, but with Force abilities, not just a regular lame human. I hope one day I get that character in a movie or Disney series. Hell, just give me the same premise of the David Carradine Kung Fu show, starring a badass MAN with force powers, that travels around helping and fighting new people every week like the A Team. In fact, give me the A-Team, with force powers.

What does everyone here think about the new armor of Boba Fett compared to the repainted one we see in the Mandalorian? Superior or inferior?

I think the Mandalorian armor is superior, colours popped better. Something different from any other armor we’ve seen so far. The armor set we see in BOBF is much more similar, paint wise, to the ROTJ armor. Which I actually think is negative. Why? Because it takes away some of the “reborn” part from the story and sends off signals this Boba will be like the Boba we see in ESB-ROTJ, which definitely ain’t the case.

You can do more with the concept than "good & evil". Even something like that is highly subjective.

Eh, I was never that much into that type. I like some stoic badass like Batman, but there's got to be more meat in there for me. Some tragedy and pathos. I suppose it's why I like Metal Gear, even with all the nonsense. The characters have larger-than-life personalities that grow out of their archetypes and the anime-inspired "u will always be muh brother" melodrama, alongside the base stock personality, appeal to me. Even something that is seen as peak dudebro like Conan actually has a lot of melancholy and heart in it. I find the stripped down and base "grug" type ofcharacters and stories to be entirely banal.

Cable himself is not really that much of an 80s action man, he's a Warrior Monk and a hidden softie who has bouts of a God Complex. Nate/X-Man is the one I dislike and he's an actual incestual cuck at that. Nathan's professional and stoic, but he's not a caricature of the "macho man", neither is he a smarmy tacticoolbruh. He's a pretty realistic version of a kid brought up in war and calamity who fights for a better future, and has strong paternal insticts. I love his relationship with Hope myself, even if I know a lot of people hated it (and her).

Personally speaking, I've always had the X-Men close to Star Wars in my heart/mind (I found similarities with MGS too, come to think of it), and considered the Summers/Greys as the setting's equivalent to the Skywalkers. I did write a quasi fanfic ages back where I took Star Wars, mixed it with the X-Men concept, and swapped the characters for mutants.

But for me, there has to be a balance in everything. So I don't really care for some jacked meathead dropping stereotypical one-liners and having "kewl moments". It's why I liked the Jedi/Sith; they had badass powers and skills, but also were knowledgeable warriors. It gave them an aura of prestige. It's why my favourite characters are Doom, Stark, Strange and so on. I love Hal Jordan even though he's not a supergenius polymath, but I tend to gravitate towards the Renaissance Men.

I don't care for whinny Luke, [...] or weirdo monks like Obi Wan and the rest of the Jedi virgin squad.
Filtered. Luke's got a great arc which makes him a very interesting character. As a kid I was full-on Sith edgelord squad, but as I grew older I learned to really appreciate Luke.

That'd make a pretty good episodic show. Simple and straight to the point. If I were to create something in that vein, I'd go for a proper Jedi Knight, with a "Code Of Chivalry" and all, wandering about. Sometimes helping random schmucks, sometimes putting down various dangerous cults, other times rescuing space princesses and so on. Simple and enjoyable for all ages. As for my dream SW show, I don't know, I have lots of ideas going by both core concept and time period.

That's one of the reasons I like Kyle Katarn. Smuggler type, mingles with the underworld, reluctant 'Jedi', not bogged down by dogma (at least in the games). I always preferred my Jedi like Kryptonians. It's better when there are so very few of them. When you have hundreds of people all doing the same tricks it kind of diminishes the spirituality and reverence of it all.

This is nice, but the show still sucks. I've tried watching this "Boba Fett" show more than once and it's gotten worse each time exponentially. All that happens is I notice more flaws. I'm not trying to have a go at you here, but I don't understand how anyone who likes classic Fett can be OK with whatever this is. And I know you are obviously a huge fan of the character. I wanted to like this, I really did.

I seriously can't even think of a single thing I have liked about this show two episodes in except for that vicious looking wookiee. I want to see more of him.
Yeah, I didn’t think my re-watch was going to sway you. I get a lot of the points and agree with many of them. For me, this version of Fett doesn’t tarnish the ESB version, it’s just a character evolution. The only thing that concerned me about your post was that the term “have a go at you…” means something different here in the Midwest. And I do NOT want you doing that! 😂

This morning I sat down and watched episodes 1 and 2 back to back together with no pause. I didn't even let it roll through the concept art and end credits and went from 1 to 2 as quickly as possible. I'm enjoying the show much more than I did with the two individual viewings of the episodes 1 week apart. They really should've released them both together as I think they did with the first two episodes of Hawkeye. They play much better together and the flashback stuff is much more tolerable when you get it all together. There's still misses in this thing but I'm feeling much better about the show, about Fett and about the future. Plus, it's Saturday! :)

Agreed, on a rewatch I am liking the show more. Episode 2 was fairly strong. I am curious to see if this series keeps getting strong with each episode, and in hindsight becomes a really great show. I was concerned after episode 1.

If you only want ESB Fett in your toy box then there is no saving this show.

Damage is done they decided on a Fett that talks more than a parrot at guantanamo bay.

There is no turning this ship around he will continue as the talkative Fett who now needs to work as a team where as before there was no WE in Fett.

But it’s ok to just say “not my Fett” and then continue watching because that’s what SW fans do we watch then we keep or delete from canon.

I bet you now wish the worst thing Fett did was drink Tusken milk.

The Mandalorian brought Fett back and set him on a promising new path. The quiet, self-assured Fett was put into an environment, at first without his gadgets, and showed just how savage 'the quiet man' could be when necessary.

Then The Book of Bob happens and it's like somebody else with a completely different idea decides to take Fett down another, less promising path.

He's no longer as quiet, and certainly no longer as self-assured. He's practically a fish out of water, taken under Fennec's wing and relying on her advice so he doesn't make an even bigger fool of himself.

The epilogue to the final episode of season two of The Mandalorian was a gift for good writers to continue a story in the same vein. Yet they wrote it as a comedy instead.

They expect us to believe that this is the same guy who STOOD UP TO VADER! :slap

Now he barely stands up for himself!

The reality is that the quiet and self-assured Fett that everyone wants isn't enough to carry his own series.

He's best off being a solid side character and not the main protagonist that people have to emotionally invest in. What worked for Mando was never going to work for Fett.

I gave the Jedi a chance to carry a trilogy with the PT... and I was not satisfied. Their 'jobs' didn't make sense, their powers were inconsistent; hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side. That's what makes The Mandalorian work.
Ahhhh…..Soooo…..

Kaaaaa.

Here's where I disagree. You can get magical warlocks in just about every comic book out there. Even super soldiers have become magical.

I'm not a religious person and I have no interest in jacked angels.

I prefer heroes grounded in some kind of reality, relying on their wits and daring, and not given a 'magical' crutch.
