Obviously a few other similarities/influences, but the point being...it's so blatantly obvious, that to complain about it is pointless. If the show is good...I will watch. If it starts to really suck, I wont.

I will say this though, that whole sequence with Keith David and the other Circus Freaks training dude was entertaining. Enjoyed that whole part. I might be swayed though, since that part DID have a midget. And honestly.. how can you NOT enjoy ANYTHING with a midget. Yes King Darkness, including Porn.

I liked it... it has the feeling of a good old comic series. It feels like it must feel for me, and yeah the cheesy part is part of it . Will follow this one and hope it will not be canceled to fast.

I thought the premier was solid. Not perfect by any means, but solid enough that they could build a pretty fantastic world. The foundation is there, what they build on top of it is key.

If you have any interest, I don't think one episode is enough to make a determination on how good a show is. If it's not your thing, then its fair to walk away IMO. In other words, if the concept is something you dislike then walk away, but if the concept intrigues you but the execution left you wanting more...well then stick around for a while and let the show find its stride.

mixed impressions. thought the first half was good. I think the circus stuff and the actual cape are relatively plausible in terms of explaining it all.

Honestly, the most ubelievable part of the show is the totally made up computer technology.

The scene where Chess uses the hologram to do...something...and then he just ends up laughing was really stupid.

Also, Summer Glau's character, was pretty weak and unintersting, though she has nice cars... I think she's going to end up being Chess' sister or something.

Mercedes paid some big bucks to get the countless, shameless closeups on their logo and model Make one of the main characters a car enthusiast, create tons of opportunities in each episode for lots of advertising dollars.

I liked the show, save for a few (well, more than a few) cheesy dialogue moments. I like the idea of the cape as well, it just bothers me that it "grabs" things, like that guys shoulder in the liquor store. Wrapping around objects like a whip might makes sense, but grabbing them does not (I know I know, suspension of disbelief).

What about when he disappears in a cloud of smoke. It's supposed to be illusion, but it looks more like something supernatural.

I think these things work because it's a more literal depiction of how it might be presented in a comic book.

I noticed on one scene when he disappeared it was in a pretty open area and it was a pulled back shot, with no plausible escape route.

The director simply needs to be more careful in the shots.

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to. For example, in the kitchen.

Thats probably the scene I noticed on. As I said, simple planning on the part of the director could solve this. Either add a doorway, or wall to hide behind, nearby or simply use close up shots so people aren't scrutinizing it.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. And the cape itself isn't the plausible either. How can a cape wrap itself around an item and jerk it back like that? For shows like this, you just have to turn off all logic and reasoning and take it for what it is. Fun.

That's exactly right I just realized that the cape mechanics bugged me and I didn't give the implausible vanishing a second thought

This will be lucky to last one full season, if there were even that many episodes ordered from the network. Does remind me alittle of the Flash tv series for some weird reason.
