"I’ve begin to hate haunting/possession movies recently because nothing ever happens in them except a few people bending over backwards. Big deal, lots of people have scoliosis. But director James Wan (Saw, Insidious) The Conjuring (previously The Warren Files) looks like he’s aware of those pitfalls and is sidestepping them without sacrificing character. This teaser focusses almost exclusively on Lili Taylor’s character, so I imagine we’ll be getting that features the whole ensemble soon enough.

In particular I think the blindfold scare at the beginning is particularly well done. It’s a variation on a gag we’ve seen before, for sure, but it’s pulled off with confidence and restraint and as such wrings new scares out of it. I spent some time on the set of this movie last year and look forward to sharing that report with you in the coming months.

In the film, “Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.” Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston star.

This movie apparently had insanely high scores from test audiences, hence the summer release date. Wan is also busy filming Insidious Chapter 2 at the moment. Head inside for the trailer and images! Clap if you want more!!!

This looks fantastic to me. I've always been a big James Wan fan , I can't wait for this and Insidious Chapter 2. :hi5:

i was just going to come and post this trailer haha, i loved this trailer beginning to end.

Please god. I beg you. Stop allowing these movies to get made.

You're in the wrong thread... this movie looks creepy as hell!!!
:horror

I was at the panel for this during WonderCon and it's based on a book written by the same couple that wrote the Amytiville Horror one.
The actual girls from the story were there and the director said the MPAA slapped it with an R rating because it's just TOO SCARY... no gore, they said it's very psychological.

They showed a couple of clips and it's looking good!! :panic:

Just seen the trailer for this earlier today! Looks sweet! I was born in the 70's so the older setting should bring back memories.

Some of the Twitter reactions from tonight's screening.

ldbahr: "The Conjuring, or, that time I screamed four times in a crowded theater. Four times."

donkaye: "THE CONJURING: A good old-fashioned spook show. Extremely well-done and effective."

denniswidmyer: "The Conjuring is no joke. Scariest film I’ve seen since The Others. Audience really responded to it. Tons of screams and nervous giggles."

AlexWilliamsdt: "So many chilling moments, so many great scares, and it's smart, funny, and insanely well directed. THE CONJURING just broke #laff

AlexWilliamsdt: "THE CONJURING was so relentlessly scary at times. Such a well-orchestrated piece of horror that scares and entertains."

devincf: "Glad to see positive word for THE CONJURING! Wan directed the hell out of it - honestly a scary movie."

So, I was wrong. This movie is pretty awesome.

I want to think on it for a bit, but I really liked it. It was good. I don't think it's GREAT!111 but it was really solid, and very tense and creepy. Which was damn surprising.

James Wan is a good director...but it's taken him 3 or so movies to prove that to me since Saw.

Patrick Wilson is ****ing awesome, and it was nice to see Ron Livingston again. :lol

I saw it for free, and came out throughly happy. Also, it proves why horror films NEED to be Rated R. It's not violence. It's atmosphere.

Oooooooooh clapping hands.
That's sooooo scary.
Is this made by the people who made Scary Movie?
Clapping hands...really?
:rotfl
:rolleyes2

Hey, we agreee!

And screenings are easy to get. You just have to find the right outlets.

Don't know how, but the wife and I get invited to screenings all the time. We never go
