Nah i firmly believe this is the ending Nolan wanted and this the ending we got

If he couldn't end the story on his terms, he wouldn't have made another

TDK ending could've been all we got

Batman is shown in the cockpit, over the harbour, with 5 seconds remaining. And he's been stabbed.

My wild ass guess is Nolan intended for Bruce to die but WB wouldn't allow it.

Nolan inserts some shots of Bruce leaving clues he's alive and a bunch of Inception fans are determined that Alfred didn't see what he saw.

You would honestly have to be half ass backwards to believe bruce died.

1. Nolan has all the power over the story, and WB respects this.
2. Alfred never knew about the Selina/wayne relationship... therefore why would he see her instead of say, Talia?
3. Selina is wearing the pearl necklace that the Wayne's lawyers couldn't find.
4. The Batsignal was fixed. (after Wayne's funeral.)
5. The Bat's autopilot was fixed by Bruce Wayne himself.

:dunno

One way Bruce could have improved his odds:

Bruce gives Gordon the box to slow the atomic decay. Perhaps the box was modified in some way to cause a lower yield explosion or a 'fizzle'. In a fizzle most of the potential energy is wasted. You would still have a Mushroom and it would take out a quarter mile or so. But the Bat could probably do a quarter mile in five seconds.

So then it's just a question of how do Bruce get off the Bat? He lied about the autopilot, he could have lied about ejection seats.

Don't get me wrong. Bruce is alive. I'm just saying I think Nolan would have preferred an ending where he died and he tries to have it both ways.

No, the box was to jam the signal. No matter what the bomb was going to blow up unless they got it connected back to the reactor (which flooded)

Here's five reasons why Doc John sucks:
5. He's a stupid head
4. He writes for a website called the outhousers, therefore, his opinion smells like ____.
3. If he wasn't so busy trying to tear it down, he would realize that the platform had enough room for the armory and the computer.
2. Alfred was trying to save Bruce from himself, you heartless POS

I didnt even get past the first five because the guy sounds like such a ******.

Saw if for the 3rd time today and it keeps getting better. I honestly think it just beat TDK for me. Sure it doesn't have the Joker, but what it does have is a compelling story and a final act that satisfies me in every way. Through Bale's performance, I believed in what was happening to him and felt for him when he lost everything. The underdog story is always a fun one too as long as you like the character. I also love Bane. His plot to destroy Gotham felt real and terrifying really. One of the smart moves by Nolan to shoot in real cites, making the threat seem even more real.

And honestly, when Blake enters the Batcave and he rises mirroring the shot from Begins, I get the goosebumps. Such a perfect moment for a character I grew to love. Sorry for the incoherent rant. Seeing this movie turns my words into a series of high pitched grunts for the most part.

Agreed. I went a second time and it sealed it for me. I love the second film, but this one hit all the right notes for me... I think it's my favorite of the bunch as well.

I keep trying to get to the theater to watch it again, but Im exhuasted from work everyday. I dont wanna fall asleep from being tired. :lol

Just saw it for a fourth time and just realized yet another epic line of banes when arguing with the doctor after he changes reactor into nuclear bomb when he says 5 months by my calculation to which the horrified doctor yells THEN IT WILL GO OFF and bane chillingly responds "for the sake of your children dr Patel, indeed I hope it does" pretty much saying if u somehow fvcked this up then your family is gonna get it so intense

Just got home from watching this for the first time. Outstanding movie. Truly great. Th shortest 3 hour movie I've ever seen. I'm still not sure if I rank this higher than TDK though. The whole time I knew something was going to happen with Blake but I thought no way he would become Robin. Well played.

I was quite surprised they went back to the League of Shadows plot. Not sure if that feels lazy to me or what because it should...but it was so well done how can someone complain??

Bane was a great character but I'm surprised they chose Bane to play that role based on what Bane has always been protrayed. The fact that his mask did the opposite of what we are us to was a cool twist. They did a great job of making Bane's character "make sense". I could not stand his voice though...it was like that guy on SNL doing a Sean Connery impression. I also could not understand him a lot of the time. That will come with watching this 100 times. He had a great story though and tieing him in with Talia was gold.

Selina Kyle...as a Anne Hathaway stalker, she was great. Hot. Mixed emotions on her becoming a hero but it was built up well. If this wasn't the last movie, I would've expected her to drive off after blasting a path. Again, soooo hot...

Batman was friggin awesome. His best showing so far. I can't place why but he stole his scenes this time. Bale was outstanding in both roles.

When the Bat shot a Tumbler and the GPD ran into action, I got chills. It's fantastic when the most inspiring scenes aren't stolen by the super hero.

I admit...I thought they actually killed off Batman. Once they showed Alfred in France(? I forget already), then I realized what was going on.

Overall...just ____ing awesome. Bane's voice drove me absolutely crazy but I'll grow to accept it LOL.

I enjoyed everything about TDKR and it's my favorite of the trilogy! As a matter of fact it's now one of my favorite movies of all-time!

I watched it for the second time the other night and loved it even more. This time I paid extra attention to clues and noticed a trail of smoke shooting off towards the left of the screen away from the mushroom cloud.
I think the shot of batman in the cockpit with 5 seconds remaining was him actually in the escape pod.

Yeah, the second time watching the movie, I watched for every clue I could find about his escape. Then right before it blew, I thought "It still shows him in the Bat, he couldn't have gotten away!" Then about three seconds later, I realized the escape pod/whatever would have the same seat the Bat did. :slap
