cos when she blows the cars out the way of the tunnel her a** looks mighty fine :)

I guess its kind of hard to jump around and fight (not to mention be a sneaky theif) in street clothes like jeans and sneakers. It's a catburgular-type suit, not an overly stylized "catwoman" costume.

The Roy Orbison disability shades really kill it for me.

So the answer is 'no' then. Strange, seems like some exchange between Bats and Cats might have shed a moment of levity on the need for 'outfits'.

Anyone else pick up that Bane seemed to be knitting during the trial? That scene especially, but the whole movie was very Tale of Two Cities.

Bane was knitting? Oh sigh guess I'll have to watch it again to see :yess:

Agreed. TDKR is a film about fear's ability to make you not just afraid but broken, powerless and unable to even leave your own home. Stand up against fear. Rise.

But then you can leave your own home, retire to Italy, and enjoy a cush existence with hot chicks in cafes. Cash in on your fear. Retire at forty. :horror

Can someone list all the similarities between TDKR and A Tale of Two Cities?

I'm sure someone will do it before me but I'm in the process of reading the book and will only do my full review of the film after I've finished reading it, and after I've seen the film a few more times

Good god... people are sheep. :slap

Not really. This is kinda scary. People are popping up with the idea of being copycats.

This guy might spark something.

The "Copycat" idea came from the media. They haven't reported a single threat of another incident and have no factual information to support that theory. It's another tagline to drag out the story, to the media Fear = Ratings.

What they could be doing is reporting the status of the victims and their families. Is the community doing anything to support them. You know, something that might give hope.

And day you're afraid to go see a movie because of something like this, is the day this guy wins.

Sorry to hijack the thread, by the Way I loved the film and plan on seeing it again....and I'm sad that this is it for the Nolan Batman movies.

Now that I've had a day to think about this film I'm going to post my review on it.

This will be a spoiler filled review.

The Dark Knight Rises, of the three films that Nolan has made, I will start by saying this is my least favorite of the three. That's not saying to much considering they are all good - excellent. Where Begins is a great film, TDK an excellent film, TDKR is just a good film. Sort of like the star wars return of the jedi of the three films.

First the Cons then the Pros

TDKR is in itself a film of two halves. One half thrives on everything Nolan likes to bring to the table, character, dialog and story telling. The introductions to the new characters are all great, especially Catwomens, her turn from maid to thief was excellent. Bane also rocked in the first half of the film. It's to bad he only has one truly great moment in this film, his first fight with batman. It's the only time Bane gives a speech and sounded convincing doing it. Bane was none badder than when delivering the line "Darkness? you use it as a weapon, you should know, I was born in it!". It's when bane decides to blow up the stadium when everything turned.

It's these back to back scenes of Bane taking down the stadium and then releasing the prisoners that the character does a free fall, his speeches are not convincing nor does he sound cool giving them. He was at his best with the less he said, Bane did not need to talk alot to convince me he was bad, his actions proved that to me, the more he spoke, the more I was lost on the character. It was also very weird that they would try to take Gordons Character down a few notches with the Dent speech, there was no reason to have Blake make Gordon look like a lesser character for his actions with Dent.

The second half of the movie where Gotham is "on it's own" was goofy to me, it didn't seem plausible, even in this batman world. If it was something that had happened over a course of a day or two I can buy that, but not the amount of time that spanned over the second half of the movie. I'll also say I didn't really like the Bat to much, it was neat in it's reveal but then it didn't look right flying around the city, just really out of place, I really missed the tumbler in this film and felt it was a much better vehicle to The Bat. It seemed to me the bigger Nolan tried to go, the more he lost his touch on the film.

The one thing that didn't disappoint though was everything outside of the villain camp. Batman/Bruce Wayne shine and this is easily Christen Bales best acted version of the three films. Selena also brought the goods from start to finish. Selena was sexy and powerful, never flinching and always doing what was right for her until the time came to make a choice of self or selflessness. John Blake was also a treat and I loved his arc in the story. The only thing I didn't like what how he randomly confronts Bruce in the beginning, it seemed like it came out of no where. I also loved Fox and Albert in this, they were great as usual. I know alot of people really hate the idea of the very last shot of the film, no one can be Batman but Bruce Wayne but I loved it and thought it was the perfect way to end the film. Batman is not a person but an idea, a legend and anyone can be him. The film literally ended with A Dark Knight Rising and was a great touch on the title.

My final thoughts are, Nolan is at his best when he makes small ideas seem large, but he stumbles when he tries to make big ideas even bigger.

If by government, you mean the local government of Gotham City...they had really no power since the law enforcement arm of government--the police--were trapped underground, and any who were found above ground were "being hunted like dogs".

If by government you mean the federal government, army and national guard etc..they could not help because their hands were tied. They knew, without a doubt from their flyover radiation detectors that the nuclear bomb was real, and it was really armed by the real Dr. Pavel (who they thought was dead...and who was then REALLY killed on live TV), and they knew from Bane's lieutenant message on the bridge that if anyone tried to escape the city, they would blow the nuke.

Bane had the whole situation planned out and the government, local and federal, completely checkmated. There was nothing they could do.

Its a completely implausible situation though. This is still supposed to be in America?

And day you're afraid to go see a movie because of something like this, is the day this guy wins.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm upset that this incident is affecting whether people go & watch this movie or not. It's an understandable fear, but like Josh said, not going is pretty much letting the guy win...

It's hard to comment on this. It's just an all around sad situation. =\

Least favorite of the three. Borderline on sucking.anna Hathaway was its saving grace.the dark Knight was way better and this is not even in Avengers league.

Saw this last knight (tee-hee!). As always, I enjoyed the Nolan brothers' knack for smart writing and plotting. I liked the Gordon subplot. Levitt was a genuinely likeable and welcome addition here.

Alfred cries too much. Could have used a more stoic attitude from him.

Catwoman was okay. Had the benefit of some really smart scenes, but the character wasn't nearly the sex-bomb as she's portrayed in the comics. You can absolutely forget about topping Pfeiffer too. Hathaway has a knack for cold and calculating, but doesn't have the charisma to pull off the switch to warm and inviting.

The older I get, I can appreciate the stance of an older Wayne. It may still be too soon to start looking at Bale as "old" but he pulled off the depressed sad sack very well. His recovery was all the more enjoyable as a result. This time around, the movie was more about Batman than his villains and I got alot out of that.

The transition to the final act was a bit cut and paste. Bruce climbs out of the pit with no money or possessions then bang, he's airdropped back into Gotham. I appreciate the need to cut down running time, but still. Even a montage would have been nice lol. Mmmaybe not.

I was hoping against hope Bane wasn't just a big dumb bodyguard for Talia. I was disappointed that he wasn't shown to have some source of augmented strength outside of his prison muscles. Resistance to pain, yes, but the ability to carve off a piece of marble column with his fist? No. Still, this performance added a cunning edge that Bane generally isn't known for. I believed he could absolutely command the LOS all by himself. We know his character is supposed to be a genius before he gets the Venom in the comics, but that intelligence isn't really allowed to show itself once the muscles come out. It was nice to see brains and brawn at the same time.

Marion was by far the most alluring female in that film. Talia made Selina look like a neurotic vegan lesbo squatter (which she kinda was). Marion wasn't quite as convincing once revealed as the big bad. Nolan's hard-on for Ra's just ends up poking one big hole in said character's mystique (enough with the needless flashbacks!). His awe of RaG is supposed to carry over to Talia but it doesn't come close.

The relationship between Talia and Bane doesn't quite make sense. Let's face it, Talia and Bane look the same age. Marion is actually three years older than Hardy! These flashbacks want you to believe he's a good 15 years older. To be expected to believe that this Bane would allow himself to be ordered around by daddy's little girl is ludicrous. Remember this Bane wasn't supposed to be a tool!

Towards the end, Talia's great super awesome ninja trick is to stab Batman in full armor!!! And Nolan actually lets it happen!!! It was one of the rare "duh" moments in the film. Then the contrived Catwoman-takes-out-Bane at the last second signals that we were headed toward a fairly typical round of superhero movie resolutions.

The final sequence was quite a storybook ending for a franchise continuation. I was expecting something more brutal and final, but I couldn't help but like the way they left it. For all the sadness sitting on top of this franchise it ended on a particularly bright note. As a fan, I'm grateful.
