The end of TDK is taken in an unexpected direction sure - but that doesn't make it inconsistent. And it's a direction that is better than anything I'd expected in my mind

I think I recall that exchange going a bit differently. :lol

A certain, "twisting the end of TDK, to fit TDKR's story" if I remember correctly. I think you even agreed to it somewhat that that's what they did.

Perfectly consistent? Come on.

Dent's death and what Bruce/Batmans choice was after he died changed everything....period...no denying that...most people just have a hard time handling it...fact!...genius move by Nolan...I was shocked by it myself

epic nerdplosion

LOL....That is what makes a great film great or some even greater than others..."making one think" and even feel...emotionally...again many had a hard time realizing or even accepting what the Harvey Dent death scene/ending represented...It allowed for the creation for TDKR to the shock and horror of many a batman fanatic...some took it well while others beetched...LOL...end of story

Yeah, but they projected that's where it was going and then Nolan pulled the rug from underneath everyone!

Why?

Ledger's death.

The more I think about it, the more I'm glad the Joker is in no way associated with this movie. It makes TDKR even more of an illogical departure from TDK.

He's arguably one of the best things from this series of films. Both in how he's written, as well as Ledger's portrayal of the character. Joker gets a free pass and isn't tainted like most of the characters and messages that are warped from The Dark Knight to TDKR to appease the new story. He exists solely in Batman Begins (through that film's ending) and The Dark Knight as a single entity.

I'm sure TDKR is the Joker's least favorite Batman film as well.

He is associated with this film dude...... The Joker Created TDKR by screwing with Dent's mind...."It was all part of the Plan!"....It was all his fault ....You have a hard time accepting it...LOL...Nolan was genius in messing with your/our heads

Without digging through the thread I'd like to see your cliff notes version of how the themes of TDK don't mesh with TDKR so that I can respond to it when I get home. Please leave the he's not Batman enough arguments out though.

This thread and the thought provoking arguements presented is making me love this trilogy even more.....I'll say it again "The Joker Created TDKR"....Genius by Nolan and is part of what helped make TDK my favorite superhero film still to this day

Reusing the LOS connection with a poorly written and executed main villain is a different theme?

Using the same characters or plot devices =/= same theme jyecat

Themes of TDKR are pain, and rising above it
BB is about fear and overcoming it and channelling anger through it to do good

Quite distinct themes connected by the chaos of TDK

That Joker chaos he created is extended to TDKR too of which yes Batman/Bruce rises....He was missing and well missed from TDKR...I admit I would love to have had him in it(LOL I'm talking about the Joker...mostly)

How do I do that without making it long and annoying everyone? Bullet points? I would still end up listing everything too, which would make it a long post. I'll end up including themes, characterizations, plots, hell even lolzy "who gives a ****" inconsequential examples like Ramirez, Coleman Reese, and all the others that were associated with "the Dent conspiracy" and how TDKR is contradictory.

You should look it all up, it's all in the confines of this thread. Beginning of August or some ****.

EDIT:

It starts here and goes on for pages and pages. There might be more before it. After Void tries to take it on, I ended up commenting again on it with another wordy post. Themes are in there somewhere.

HAVE FUN!

Alright. So after reading the link you posted I see no themes being discussed. I see that you dislike several plot points and that you take the 8 years of peace and the "hunting the dark knight" way too literally. Here's hoping for more in the next few pages.

Well I'm not sure why you aimed for themes any way? I didn't mention them at all in that Joker post.

Pretty hard to sum up any film with one theme, especially Nolan's that juggle literally every idea that comes to him in the story creating process.

Can a theme from one film not mesh with another when all three films have different themes? Unless you meant plot points, which is more or less what I've commented on in this entire thread. I mean sequel or not, every story has a different theme. The themes don't glue the stories together (but then in terms of escalation between Begins and TDK that's debatable), plot points do

Look I don't care what any of you say, the Star Wars prequels are $h!t. I mean it.

BS...another one having a hard time with acceptance from the creator of Star Wars himself and another one not happy with beloved characters returning to the big screen

POORLY written and executed main villain? Are you ****ing crazy? Bane was probably one of the most well written and original villains to see the big screen in a LONG time. You know what I think? I think YOU, are over thinking this movie WAY to much, I bet all you can think about when watching Rises is how bad it is and how many issues it has. I'm not going to list all the things you have issues with that are completely irrelevant to the enjoyment of a movie like Rises. This isn't ****ing Memento, this is a summer action movie, you're not suppose to take it that seriously, IT'S A ****ING MOVIE. If you made a list about all the things that are supposedly wrong with it then what's the point of movies? Is it really THAT bad? Really?

How long ago did you tell your wife that you love her?
Grow the **** up.

TDKR was all the Joker's fault!...He created TDKR...LOL...that's all I gotta say for now...
