It is amazing the level of debate this movie has created in geekville.

Either Avengers is a perfect movie or it's as shallow as a frog's pond

Well it's certainly not perfect and it's not too shallow...lots of people remember the sense of humor in it(It's what I remember most of all in it)...I thought the Avengers was great but not too many IMHO think it's thought provoking as the DK trilogy was

It's because the fans accept it as the greatest comic book movie of all time while admitting the flaws. With the exception of Josh, they don't try to defend it as the perfect messiah of celluloid unlike a certain other fanbase. :lol

Is this why it ruffles your feathers so bad when people keep posting that "true" trailer in the Avengers thread? You don't defend that film at all do you?

P.S. It's not even the greatest Marvel film of all time.

Me?

I've seen you defend it but I've seen you say it's not perfect as well so I'm not sure what he means by that. Truth be told I've seen just as many people, proclaim Avengers to be God's manna as I have The Dark Knight Rises. Nam keep making that statement but there is literally only a handful of people that act like that on both sides.

Iron Man is a lot better. A lot. I'd even put a few as equals with Avengers.

Iron Man was good, and while this is my one and only criticism on Iron Man, it doesn't bother me, nor ruin the film. But the film lacked action. That never, and still won't impact my love for it, but these movies are ALL about action. The Avengers delivered everything Iron Man did, times 6, plus amazing action that was made it the best summer movie ever made.

You go see these Marvel hero flicks for action. You have to deliver.

Here's your proof Nam.

Well, that might've been a quip on me, but the reason I dig TDKR over TDK is because the tone is a lot of fun. Very laid back. Nolan wanted to give you a good time at the theater.

It's not a quip against you it's pointing out to Nam that people have sex with their DVD copies of the Avengers while watching the Bluray copy with the digital copy playing on their iphones taped to their 3D glasses with the Ultraviolet copy playing in their laptops behind them to add extra sound to the experience.

Yeah, the one that was ESTABLISHED in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

Meh. I like the character arc (love it in fact... couldn't ask for it to be any better in fact... better than I anticipated in fact...).

The man in these films may be different than you would like him to be, but again that's just your opinion and doesn't in itself make this a bad film.

Yeah, I don't think its perfect but I think its pretty damn good. TDKR was fun but for me it had far more issues that kept me from loving it than any of the other films in that Trilogy.

:goodpost::exactly:

Ironman was incredible. It had a personality and seemed more well-made. Thor and Captain America felt very generic imo.

The Avengers was much better than I remembered, but without the action or great character interactions I don't think it really had anything else going for it.

It's like I remember a specific atmosphere and emotion in Ironman...not with Cap/Thor.

It's been over a year since my last viewing, but I thought The Incredible Hulk was great...I'd rate them:

1. Ironman
2. Avengers/Incredible Hulk
3. Cap
4. Thor
5. Ironman 2

Ironman's not my favorite Avenger either. Probably Cap. Maybe Thor.

The **** else does it need to go for it?

The whole point of the movie was to bring these characters together to fight monsters. It did that perfectly.

I understand that and yes it could have been another rebirth/reaffirmation of his dark persona and become darker, even revengeful...but then it would be more of your common vigilante film and maybe worse...expected.... IMHO

:rotfl:rotfl

Yeah, but they projected that's where it was going and then Nolan pulled the rug from underneath everyone!

Why?

Ledger's death.

:slap

I don't believe for a second that that was ever Nolan's intent.
