I get why they did it that way; it's an idealized version because nobody really saw him but Gordon. That being said, for an idealized version, the cowl and belt are pretty spot on for an idealized version.

No. The ultimate payoff was Batman becoming a Symbol, a legend, something that will live forever. That is what Bruce's goal was from day 1. Blake becoming Batman is the symbolic emodiment of that.

Becoming a symbol was actually the goal that Ras implanted in Bruce. Who's to say John Blake, with his shady background and multiple aliases isn't a league member. Huh? HUH?!

Hey, it works and would even not only explain his fighting ability against armed foes, but would set him up perfectly. Maybe he got involved with the LoS after Bruce left, realized they're a bunch of psychos and decided to follow Bruce's path, but went the legal route to change things not having Bruce's millions?
