I don't know if this has been confirmed or not. IMDB doesn't have Cillian Murphy listed, but he has been in movies and not been credited for them (ie: Tron Legacy)

I have heard the rumors that Cillian Murphy was spotted on set.

yeah I really wonder that, that's the thing I want to know is if he makes a cameo, among the mayhem,
the problem of doing that is that how can they show Scarecrow but not even acknowlege Joker,

Doesn't matter about the story to Nolan. His friend died, and he feels it's not cool to make up a story for the character he created.

He ain't lookin at it from a normal filmmaking angle. He's looking at it from a personal one. Joker is gone.

Wait till the next Batman flick for a new Joker.

I'm not certain since it's been so long but I vaguely remember hearing that he was spotted on set at least once.

This is the one thing i've been dying to find out since the film was announced, i don't want to know what his role is or what happens to him, just if he makes an appearance or not.

I would be over the moon if he has some role to play, big or small
