I think the more sidekicks you add to Batman, the more it cheapens the character. While I think Robin could and has definitely worked I don't think a film would be very sucessful if you started adding Batgirls and other "Bat-family" members. Robin is the only one that is relateable to Batman (parents murdered, training etc.) and the only one that would really make sense.
I prefer a solo Batman with allies in Alfred and Jim Gordon. Then Grayson Robin at the very minimum (like a seasoned year three/year four Batman).

- Batman and Robin
That's it.

I think Batgirl is doable. Let's say in this movie Bane takes Batman out of comission for awhile, a woman could try to take Batman's place, kinda like Huntress in No Man's Land and then when Batman gets back she convinces him she can help. After all, he can't be everywhere, so if there were two of him in the city that'd double the number of crimes being prevented.
I think Robin is much more difficult since he's a kid and I don't see an adult taking on the title Robin. Nightwing however... He would work I think.
