Both previous films were great, but after all is said and done, I think Dark Knight is a better overall film than Begins. Re: action set pieces, the Chinese abduction, Tumbler/Batpod sequence, and cop battle at the end were greater than Batman vs. "Ra's," tumbler over rooftops, and Batman vs. Ra's, IMO. In Begins, the debut of Batman was awesome, but largely because it was one of those "geekgasm" moments more than anything else.

As for the crime film argument, I guess I don't see it the same as some of you. Yes, we saw more of the criminality from the criminals' vantage point in TDK, but that was because the first film--being an origin movie--required a more narrow Batman focus. But both stories were completely about Batman, IMO. Batman wasn't shoehorned into TDK's attempt to create a movie about Joker. Joker exists in that film to help move Batman's story along. . .

You realize that if the Avengers gets smashed at the B.O. that it will end the idea of crossover films as well as large team ensembles right? I love both universes and would love to see cameos all over the place. I would love to see Clark ask Bruce for help or Hal talking to Oliver Queen or Barry about something even in passing. Nolan kept his Batman in a bubble because he said it wouldn't work mixing with the rest of the universe, Marvel is claiming that it can work and so far has been successful. The Avengers needs to do well or else you can cross out any hopes of a Justice League film, ever.

Of course another point to try and prove your internet wit. I never said I wanted it to do bad, I said i wanted TDKR to do better.

It would because the Nolan films are standalone and are written that way

I'm sure post Nolan things will be a little different

You never will. The reboot Batman will be one that melds him into the current film DCU, which may or may not include Cavill's Superman (Nolan said no and Snyder is being coy). It was originally to include Reynolds GL but with that franchise in danger, who knows where that will start. With the reboot Batman a while away and if Nolan's Superman isn't part of it, the Justice League film (if that happens) might be the first peek of who is taking over the roles for all major characters...

Even if Avengers fails I hope that it doesn't cause future movies to not intermingle the universe. Even if we never get a huge crossover team movie, I think they should at least exist together even if it is just cameos, or minor team ups like Bats and Supes or Green Lantern and Green Arrow.

I read a little while back that WB is going to be re-booting Batman to build up to a JL movie, and they were going to go with a younger guy to play Bruce Wayne/ Batman. An actor in his early to mid 20's, however with all the cray rumors out there I don't know if this was true and if it was if it'll still happen.
