Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Don't quote me on this but I believe the teaser trailer reveal is imminent.

The sheer amount of people trying to beat out WB before Friday is staggering.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Anyone else notice the apparent Superman shield under the left wing of the teaser?

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

From a member over at SHH, some very very interesting analysis:

In regards to the teaser poster:

Very interesting indeed, the color pallet is not at all what I thought it was going to be and reminds a lot of what we saw in Inception, that's good considering I loved the Inception posters.

There's not much going on in the poster, as suspected, and why some of you thought we were getting character photos is beyond me. This is totally in line with what we got for TDK and makes perfect sense to tease you with. You've got destruction, buildings and a Bat Symbol, what else do you need to know, right?

I'm reading into the poster and a very much like what's coming to my head for the art. I'll try to keep it simple as I know long post often get ignored here:

So what can the poster mean?(if anything)

I think we're all getting our first glimpse at the Dark Knight Rising. A lot of people are drawing parallels to No Man's Land and the Earthquake but, I don't think that's exactly what's going on here. Firstly am I the only one who thinks the debris is falling up? It's hard to tell from the picture but, the way the picture gives off a weightlessness vibe, like being suspended in time makes me think it's actually being sucked up into the sky. It doesn't seem like any of the debris is falling on the viewer all.

Secondly: We're on the streets of Gotham, something I don't think we've been privy to before. Sure there are other poster on the streets of Gotham but, they're always focusing on something, like Batman or Joker. This puts us AS a Gothamite in the middle of the destruction. The familiar inner city image being destroyed right before our eyes, clearly Gotham is going to go through something here, something probably very different than Joker's plan. Whereas TDK wanted to showcase a “world without rules” this poster seems to imply that this is the end of the world; rules or not destruction is on it's way.

Thirdly: The color, it's a serious tone, at the bottom of the poster it's dark but, it gets brighter and in it's whole, is bleak itself. This sort of washed out look is a good choice for the series, it shows an aging, time passing, a weariness but, without sacrificing actual art and beauty. If BB was Sundown and TDK was Nighttime then this looks like twilight, a period in time which is neither day or night. A moment in time where things are clear in sight but, not clear as to it's purpose, a shade of grey, much like the ambiguity I think we'll be seeing in characters. The color could represent a uneasiness of trust, that everyone is sort of teetering to a level that makes them the hero or the villain. That who you trust is ultimately what makes you virtuous or villainous. I believe it was I who said:

“Mark my words this movie will be about who you can trust”

I think this poster is giving some allusions to that.

Fourth:

Going back to the falling up theme I think we see what the message is going to be. In the Teaser for TDK the Bat symbol was used as the mouth for the Joker defacement, in the film Batman became a tool for Joker to spread his propaganda about the society, used to propel Gotham into chaos (furthermore in the “World Without Rules” poster the Bat symbol was etched on the side of a building in flames, a symbol of fear for all of Gotham to see, in the end of the film Batman is a murderer, and presumably, feared by Gotham) in this teaser poster the symbol is in the sky, it IS the sky and it almost feels as if it's bearing down on us. If the world is coming to an end and we're all being sucked up with the debris, the Bat symbol is there, our hope. When the destruction and madness begins to take it's toll look to the sky and there it is, clear as day, above the destruction, ready to catch Gotham from it's madness and chaos.

I think we're seeing something pretty big here, can't wait for more.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

:rotfl 710 word analysis on a logo and some buildings. It's gonna be a looooooong wait until summer 2012.

Wow, I think I could have summed that up in maybe a simple paragraph or two.

I will say this, alot of the people on SHH sure are, uh, dedicated. :lol

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

So Batman destroys the city in this one, I guess? Cool. After the 2nd film, he probably realizes Ra's was right, etc. ____ the people of Gotham.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Certainly looks like the debris is 'falling' upwards towards the light/symbol - Look at the pieces breaking away at the top

It will be with Harry Potter, might be online before then.

I know it's attached with Harry Potter, but I think it's going to be shown before Friday.

That's what I meant.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I'm clearly having too much fun with this.

Look at the similarity to the Begins poster! It is pretty much inverted, in Begins, Batman is the darkness surrounded by light, and he's falling towards us. And he is clearly a man

In this, he is a symbol, and he is the light, surrounded by darkness. And everything seems to be falling upwards, rising towards him

Also, I don't know, but this looks like a hidden image of Heath in the pic:

Perhaps a shakycam leaked version. But Harry Potter is WB's biggest movie this summer. Hard to imagine TDKR tease showing up officially anywhere else first.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

yes! were getting oh-so close, a year will fly by in no time. I have never been this excited for a movie before!

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Very reminiscent of the Inception promo stuff.

Batception is upon us :yess:

That's the first thing I thought of as well....there are certainly similarities:

As cool as this new teaser poster is, the party doesn't start until we get the first official villain and hero posters.

Like these from TDK
darkknight_joker.jpg

:exactly: Wondering if they will do a Catwoman themed poster, or if Selina's turn will be kept "under wraps" ala Harvey/Two-Face.

In this, he is a symbol, and he is the light, surrounded by darkness. And everything seems to be falling upwards, rising towards him

To me, it looks like we are ground level as Gotham falls down and the Bat rises.

Also, I don't know, but this looks like a hidden image of Heath in the pic:

Not seeing your pic bro. :dunno

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

looks like BOF is reporting no with harry potter and nothing til comic con.

Can't wait.

Also, the poster is most similar to the burning bat symbol one, no?
