Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I think inclusion of the Joker in any way would risk PR problems with fans, even if just a silhouette in a room or something, replacing Heath could piss off a lot of people and it's not worth the risk. Best to just leave it as a great performance and not touch the character in any significant way.

:exactly: I just hate recasts anyways. It would be fine if they throw a nod into a conversation between Batman and Gordon kind of like at the end of Begins, but nothing on screen should be applied.

That would be fine with me... I just would like some explination of whats going on with him.

Yeah that's what I mean. Something that mentions his treatment at Arkham. Nothing too in depth, just enough that he wasn't completely forgotten since Dark Knight.

Over at Nolanfans.com

''We're not officially kicking off Comic-Con until tomorrow, but today we have a huge bit of news regarding a comic book flick that likely doesn't even have a presence at this year's convention. We've gotten word from a reliable inside source with a studio casting grid that The Riddler is listed as a character for Chris Nolan's highly anticipated to the sequel to The Dark Knight, which is still called Batman 3 at Warner Bros. Even more interesting, the actor currently listed in the same grid to play the assumed villain is none other than Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whose status is just listed as "interested." Let's all say it together now: Hell. Yes!

We'd like to point out that this news should be considered confirmation that The Riddler is the villain in Batman 3 and less confirmation of the recent suggestions/rumors regarding Gordon-Levitt's casting as the enigmatic villain. A casting grid is used in the industry to keep production companies, agencies, etc. in the loop on a project's progress and the roles available for actors to potentially take. These documents are used for business planning in the industry and by no means would use internet speculation to list a character that may not even appear in the film. But when it comes to listing actors, this is info that can change at anytime, and just because an actor or studio is interested in one or the other, does not mean it will actually happen.

We're also cautious because the age range listed for the character is 35 to 45, and with Gordon-Levitt being 29 years old falls a little short of the mark. Of course, this wouldn't really be a reason for him to be excluded as characters can be modified in the script to accommodate a favored actor. On the lighter side though, the actor is fresh off working with Nolan on the brilliant Inception, so they've surely developed quite a working relationship as Gordon-Levitt called him "the genuine article… a real artist" and "a unique voice." For now we'll consider Gordon-Levitt's involvement a rumor, but seeing The Riddler in a studio casting grid is solid confirmation of Nolan's villain for Batman 3. Hopefully we'll get an official confirmation sooner than later.''

He looks made for it if you ask me

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Very cool indeed!! Either the Ridller or the Penguin will be cool for me. If the Penguin, it's gotta by Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I would like to see Tom Hardy play Black Mask :)

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I hope Catwoman is in this... Olivia Wilde or Emily Blunt would be my top choices.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I have faith in Nolan and team...but this movie has to be huge. Riddler, new batmobile/batcave, and wayne manor will be cool...but it needs to avoid being the typical third movie in a trilogy. I'd like to see more villains then just the riddler..but I think they will take the character in a place that will make him much more popular.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Looks so much like Ledger it's scary.

That's what I thought watching Inception. I assumed he might be in B3, but as Riddler seems odd, considering just how much he does indeed resemble Ledger. I know no one alive wants to see the Joker recast, but if anyone could, I think under Nolan's direction G-L could. And I would be ok with a cameo myself. Not hardwired to the casting, but to the story. Even Heath would want that I think. But, all that said, not likely a possibility.
But, to me, if G-L is in the movie, Riddler is a good choice for him. I hope he's in it. He was great in Inception.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I don't know man. Maybe he looks a bit like him...He's much thinner and alot more scrawny. What I liked about Heath's joker is even though he was somewhat weasily, he still friggin through down with batman and beat him with a crowbar. Heath is a pretty big dude, and his joker had retard strength. Seeing Gordon-Levitt playing Joker would be kinda like a son wearing his dad's suit.

But it's not like heath looked anything like himself as the joker anyway.

Levitt was friggin awesome in Inception, hell I even liked him in gi joe, and in that date comedy movie last summer. Definitely gotta keep an eye on him. He's gunna do good stuff.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

Looks like he'll be great for the role. He was great in Killshot.
As much as I like JGL I thought he was over acting in Killshot...

I would like to see him in number 3 though.

it's been confirmed by Nolan that Joker won't be appearing so we can end the debates about Levitt picking up the role.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

If its Joseph Gordon-Levitt and he's playing The Riddler i'm all for it! Good news, even if its still just speculation.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

I'd rather have Leo. JGL already did the villian role...I want to see Leo be a crazy SOB.

Never gonna happen, he has been offered Bruce Wayne to Peter Parker to Clark Kent to Anakin Skywalker and refused them all. In not so many words he has said that Comic Book/Sci Fi movies are beneath him and do not challenge him acting wise. Not to mention that he has seemed to buddy up with Martin Scorsese lately like Johnny Depp has buddied up with Tim Burton. Rumor mill is that he signed up for two more Marty flicks filming over the next couple of years.

I think Levitt will do fine as Riddler if it comes to pass then again I'm sure knowing Nolan he'll cast someone who fits his idea of a foil for Batman with no issues. My interest is 1: If there is a Catwoman who they'll cast with the actress rumor doing double speed lately and 2: If he includes more Batvillian cameos on his wayout of the door.

Re: Batman/Dark Knight 3rd Film

In all honesty I think the guy would play a better joker. He looks like the joker from the killing joke.
