Re: The Dark Knight Rises

My excitement was at an all time high last summer, specifically June to August. It felt like the film was only weeks away. Then it kind of fell a bit but then picked back up with the Prologue. I was pumped when I walked out of the theater and looking forward to the summer.

After that though, I don't know. Now I feel like "eh, what's all this commotion about, people are overreacting, let's just get this over with". Some of the info for the film has rubbed me the wrong way and overall, I'm just not as impressed as I was at the early 2008 (January through June) stage for TDK. I was in a foaming frenzy in February of 2008, Toy Fair had cool NEW, toys merchandise to offer, we were coming off of the prologue and Trailer 2 and I liked where everything was headed, plus the virals. This just doesn't feel genuine or nearly as exciting.

I feel the same way but unlike you, I'm happy I'm not so exited about it.

I think that's a Nolan decision on marketing honestly. He is all about going into a movie blind and not revealing every little detail. He didn't reveal a lot about TDK, but he revealed even less about "Inception." I feel he's revealing as little as he can to wow audiences with surprises and such.

Some people think they know the entire movie from leaked films and are dismissing it as overrated and not as good as Avengers or Spider-Man. Those films aren't out yet! Neither is this one. It might be hyped up, but can you complain coming onto an internet forum to discuss the movie with others? Obviously the people taking their time to do that are excited for the movie.

I know even with your opinions stated you're going to see it. I hope we're both pleasantly surprised despite not being pumped up for this one like we were with TDK. I still have high expectations just like I did for TDK and "Inception." But they're lower than they would be if we knew more about this than we do.
