Re: The Dark Knight Rises

Completely uninspired, IMHO. Most of the fan-made ones were more interesting and creative than this:

Wow this is terrible. i hate to bring it up but the dark knight poster were way better and didnt seem so photoshoped looking. Jeez thats bad.:slap

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I think it's actually worse than The Avengers one because at least the background on that one was a new photoshop and not just changes to an existing poster. :lol

A lost art, this one-sheet business. :(

Someone coax Struzan out of retirement and pay him gobs to re-do all these craptastic posters!

That's true. I'll reverse it. TDKR is now crowned the worst movie poster of ALL TIME.

All they did was add some orange color dodge to Batman and the background.

ORANGE COLOR DODGE. :monkey4

and, what is this?

is that catgirl poster for real? seems like one of those pics you find in middle school folders lol I dont think is official but is showing up a lot when i was searching TDK poster

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

The Catwoman poster is like one you buy from the store, not an official poster for promotion.

Is that really the headgear Catwoman will wear in the film?

Both of those are the "kiddified" posters. They are "official" but they are designed for exactly the purpose you mentioned, to appeal to merchandise marketed to kids, like school folders and bedroom wall posters - the type that a 13 year-old might stick up with some tape as opposed to a one-sheet properly framed by an adult collector.

Not a fan of the new poster. Jye, the cowl ears lining up with the background bat is actually the corniest thing about it for me. Reminds a little bit of my most-hated Batman comic cover symbol design --the bat-symbol one with Batman's head on it.

As others have said, the orange color is all wrong for the scheme we've seen so far for this film. Batman Begins had that sepia/brown touch to it's promotional materials and even much of the shots, TDK's color-scheme was blue with intense spots of red-orange fire, and TDKR's color tint seemed to be whitewash, not just from the previous posters, but from the trailers' title graphic and the snowy setting of Gotham. This poster seems like it is completely from left field, and besides the recycled background, and the shattered rises logo, there is nothing about it that is obviously specific to this Batman film. D-

I'm looking forward to more a few more official one-sheet designs, that are hopefully more interesting than this and dovetail better with the established design of the promotional materials.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises

and then you also post in a thread that beauty was more than skin deep. :lol

Yup, meaning it's gotta be there first. :nana:

I can see if someone likes those Burtonesque broads like Gina Davis, how they might be attracted to Hathaway, but the cow eyes and the disproportionate body I don't find attractive in the least. They're borderline creepy.

It's getting harder to argue with the notion that they're just trying to replicate the success of TDK with not only the TDKR title (which I've always hated) and this imagery. It completely breaks any type symmetry within the trilogy, and separates these two from BB.

It will be a travesty if WB expects this to be even remotely as successful as TDK. Realistically, and hopefully, they're looking at BB as a target to pass.

i.e. "I've already printed these out on junior-sized shirts and wear them both as pajamas."
